As an ardent fan of Bollywood, I can’t help but feel thrilled by the news that Shraddha Kapoor is set to grace our screens as an Icchadhari Naagin in Nikhil Dwivedi’s trilogy. Four years in the making, this project has been a labor of love for all involved, and it’s evident that Shraddha was just as enamored with the script as the rest of us are.
As I soak up the glory following the success of Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2, I’m thrilled to share that you’ll soon see me in my eagerly awaited project, Naagin. Stepping into the enchanting role of an Icchadhari Naagin in this upcoming trilogy, it’s been a long-awaited journey since I first committed to being part of this captivating tale four years ago. Producer Nikhil Dwivedi recently disclosed that my interest was instantly piqued the moment he presented me with the script for Naagin.
In a recent conversation with India Today, Nikhil Dwivedi shared that he strategically reached out to Shraddha Kapoor about starring in the main role of his film project titled Naagin.
1) “She quickly reacted to it. She was the initial person to join the project. I presented my concept to her initially, and she showed immediate interest.” – Said Dwivedi.
The producer confirmed that the Naagin script is finished, and Shraddha is excited to begin filming her movie. He also mentioned that the Naagin crew hasn’t settled on a specific shooting date yet, but it might start production in 2025. Nikhil added that the scriptwriting process took three years to complete, and it underwent changes on three separate occasions before reaching its final form.
In the year 2020, Shraddha Kapoor shared on social media (previously known as Twitter) her involvement in Nikhil Dwivedi’s production titled Naagin. Excitedly, she mentioned that she was looking forward to portraying the character of a Naagin on-screen. Reflecting back, Shraddha fondly remembered being inspired by Sridevi’s performances in Nagina and Nigahen. Moreover, she expressed her desire to embody a character similar to those with roots in Indian mythology and folklore, as she had previously admired.
Previously, during an interview with TopMob, Nikhil Dwivedi revealed his thoughts on whether Shraddha Kapoor was initially chosen for Naagin. He shared, “I primarily considered only Shraddha because I believe she is among the few actresses who possess a distinctive quality of being both relatable as a neighboring girl and capable of transforming into a highly sensual woman at will.
2022 saw a report circulating that the Naagin trilogy was being temporarily halted, but this claim was debunked by Nikhil Dwivedi in an interview with Times of India, stating that it was merely false information.
Shraddha Kapoor primarily gained recognition through her role in the movie “Aashiqui 2,” directed by Mohit Suri in 2013. Besides this film, she is also well-known for her performances in titles such as Baaghi, Chhichhore, Haider, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar, and several other notable movies.
