‘Shrinking’ Star Says Harrison Ford Made Everyone Cry in Season 2 Finale

As a film enthusiast with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Apple TV’s “Shrinking” is one of the most outstanding shows currently gracing our screens. The blend of comedy and drama in this series is nothing short of extraordinary, and the performances by Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, and Jessica Williams are truly top-notch.

As a movie enthusiast, I must admit that Apple TV Plus has made quite an impression with its sci-fi offerings, but it’s fair to say that their foray into other genres can be somewhat unpredictable, veering between hit and miss. However, when they manage to blend comedy with drama, magic happens – like the extraordinary series Shrinking. This show stands tall among the best current offerings, boasting an exceptional cast including Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, and Jessica Williams.

In this dramedy, Ford portrays Dr. Paul Rhoades, an elderly therapist with Parkinson’s disease who is a friend of Jimmy Laird (Segel) and Gaby (Williams). According to Deadline, the actress was moved by some exceptional acting she had ever seen when it came to Ford’s final scenes in the finale. These scenes featured a long monologue explaining why Rhoades chose to discontinue his medication.

“There’s this scene where Paul decides he’s not gonna take his Parkinson’s medication so much anymore because it loses its effectiveness. Harrison showed up that day and had really worked the sh*t out of that scene. We were weeping, like, the camera crew was weeping. I’m getting misty thinking about it, but it was some of the most phenomenal acting I’ve ever seen in my life and that I’ve ever had the privilege to see in person, and I could not believe that monologue.”

She further expressed that the scene carried an intense emotional weight due to the deep-rooted relationship between the characters, with Rhodes playing a significant role as a father figure to Gaby. “It was incredibly moving,” she stated. “I can’t wait for everyone to experience it. When the cameras stopped rolling, there was a palpable silence. It was there. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps, and I believe it showcases some of the finest acting I’ve ever witnessed.

‘Shrinking’ Will Return for At Least One More Season

Debuting in 2023 on Apple TV, the show “Shrinking” has garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and viewers. With an impressive overall rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, its audience score stands at a robust 86%. Critics are particularly enthusiastic about Season 2, praising it as one of the best shows currently airing. The series is renowned for its ability to seamlessly combine humor with poignant moments, resulting in a show that surpasses expectations in terms of depth and impact.

It’s great news that the series “Shrinking” has been renewed for a third season, following its quick renewal less than a day after the premiere of Season 2.
