Rohit Shetty is a renowned movie director who created several box office hits prior to debuting his cop-themed universe with the 2011 release of Singham. Following this, films such as Singham Returns, Simmba, Sooryavanshi, and Singham Again were produced, contributing to the franchise’s success. In a recent conversation, the filmmaker discussed plans for the sequels to Simmba and Sooryavanshi, as well as potential spin-offs featuring Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff within his universe.
Following the triumph of his recent blockbuster, Singham Again, director Rohit Shetty shared insights into the creation of his cop universe during an interview with Game Changers. Intriguingly, he admitted that when they initially made Singham, they hadn’t foreseen its transformation into such a massive franchise.
After penning down the tale of Simmba, they conceived the idea of expanding it into a larger universe as they were also working on the development of Sooryavanshi featuring Akshay Kumar.
Speaking about moving his franchise ahead, he disclosed, “We have plans for both a Simmba sequel and further development of the Sooryavanshi series. More characters will be introduced, and we will expand our cop universe. Therefore, this universe was specifically designed.
During the same interview, Shetty disclosed that while working on Sooryavanshi in 2019, they were thinking about creating a multi-star movie similar to Singham Again. They had already brainstormed ideas for incorporating new characters and mapping out how their narratives would progress.
Furthermore, each actor joining the 2024 action movie was aware that both established stars such as Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff would have their own distinct storylines. In other words, they wouldn’t just make brief appearances with minimal involvement afterward.
Recently, Shetty has taken the helm for Singham Again, the fifth addition to his cop-centric universe. This high-grossing movie stars Ajay Devgn alongside a host of other talented individuals such as Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff.
