American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance producer Simon Lythgoe has signed with Buchwald.
The new headquarters, established by Lythgoe’s Legacy Productions, was opened in Nashville early January. Lythgoe, who is related to Nigel Lythgoe, a co-creator and former judge of the popular dance show So You Think You Can Dance, chose this location in the hub of country music to further develop their venture into diverse storytelling across multiple platforms.
It’s high time to blend music, TV, movies, and social networks. The goal is to generate content for all these platforms creatively. We can leverage our talents, think outside the box, and amuse the global audience,” said Simon Lythgoe, president of Legacy Productions, in a statement.
The Nashville hub aspires to bring together the local creative scene centered around Music Row for collaborative projects that blend music, live entertainment via social media, and innovative storytelling methods. Previously, Lythgoe has ventured into narrative structures rooted in country music within Nashville – a place where musical icons such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and others kick-started their legendary careers.
Back in 2011, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with my dad on creating a singing and songwriting competition show for the country music network based in Nashville, known as CMT’s Next Superstar. It was an unforgettable journey!
Legacy Productions is currently developing a music project in collaboration with the Vatican, which involves organizing a talent contest on social media platforms. The aim of this contest is to uncover the upcoming star who can seamlessly combine traditional and contemporary methods of showcasing fresh talent.
Apart from continuing their existing work, Legacy Productions plans to venture into creating original scripted series for streaming services, as well as delve into music management and live performances. Over a span of three decades, Lythgoe has been instrumental in developing unique formats and hit shows, with the latest being the holiday movie “Meet Me Next Christmas” on Netflix, featuring Christina Milian and Devale Ellis.
