As a longtime fan of the genre, it feels like Christmas has come early with the news that The Boys Season 5 is in production. I’ve been following this series since its inception, and it’s become one of my favorite shows for its unique blend of comedy, drama, and unapologetic satire.
Despite the uncertainty about whether it will be included in the 2025 TV lineup, the upcoming Season 5 of The Boys is generating a great deal of anticipation among comic book enthusiasts, superhero aficionados, and fans who appreciate adult-themed satire. In fact, the excitement has become so palpable that actors like Simon Pegg, who are no longer part of the show, are thrilled to learn that the streaming series is back in production.
A more casual rephrase could be: Instead of any other method, Pegg chose to express his joy and gratitude by sharing an eccentric photo taken backstage during his last episode (at least for now). Take a peek at it down below!

In the fifth episode of Season 4, fans might recall that Hughie Sr.’s life on The Boys met an abrupt end, marked by gruesome disintegration. This turn of events was orchestrated by his estranged wife Daphne (played by Rosemarie DeWitt), who secretly injected him with Compound V in a desperate bid to keep him from a natural death. The way he effortlessly passed through walls, beds, and bodies, filled with panic, was a reflection of the emotional turmoil Eric Kripke stated he felt, symbolizing his invisibility and insignificance.
In what rather unsettling setting did Simon Pegg take the photograph you mentioned, where he appears to be in the middle of a bed while there’s a ‘fake’ corpse on it? It’s hard to believe that Pegg, known for his comedic roles, would actually use real corpses as part of his acting methods.
Let’s take a look at another image, but this time it’s from an individual who is (just about) still breathing as Season 5 begins.
Karl Urban’s Bloody First Look At Billy Butcher In Season 5
Throughout Season 4, Karl Urban’s character Billy Butcher frequently grappled with troubling health concerns that weren’t merely physical in nature. His persistent coughing spells are certainly something one wouldn’t envy. Moreover, his mental state is questionable, as he started experiencing hallucinations involving Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Kessler and Shantel VanSanten’s Becca by the season’s end.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m super hyped that Eric Kripke revealed the final season will delve deeper into the epic clash between The Butcher and Homelander. However, the snapshot Urban posted below doesn’t seem to depict our favorite anti-hero drenched in Homelander’s blood—while I can envision such a scene, it seems rather unlikely.

The blood on his face and tangled in his hair appears to not be his own, suggesting instead that he may have been splashed or sprayed due to someone else’s violent actions – perhaps a head explosion or a fierce fight. However, the hand he’s holding up doesn’t seem to bear the marks of such violence, which seems unusual if he were indeed engaged in a brawl.
It’s unfortunate that we’ll have to wait quite a while for the identity of the blood owner to be revealed, but I’m confident that we’ll receive numerous sneak peeks into the production process beforehand.
As a dedicated gamer (and a fan of The Boys), I’m super stoked about the upcoming season, where we’ll see Daveed Diggs join the cast! Before that, though, we can anticipate the return of the young Supes gang in Gen V Season 2. Mark your calendars for next year, as it’s set to release then. In the meantime, you can catch up on all four seasons, which are streaming now if you’ve got an Amazon Prime subscription!
