As a lifestyle expert with years of immersion in the dynamic world of cinema, I can confidently say that franchise films are undeniably becoming a staple in our industry, and for good reason. The success stories of movies like Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Singham Again have proven their worth in ensuring substantial returns for filmmakers, while simultaneously catering to the delight of audiences.
After the box office successes of movies such as Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Singham Again, it’s clear that sequels and franchise films are delivering substantial profits to their makers. Arjun Kapoor, who starred in Singham Again, has also voiced his support for these franchises, stating they should continue as long as the audience continues to enjoy them.
In conversation with Mid-day, Arjun Kapoor recently shared his thoughts on the success of franchise movies and acknowledged that the cinema industry isn’t always guaranteed profit. Nevertheless, he pointed out that franchises offer a sense of security due to their loyal fanbase connected to the series.
From my perspective as a lifestyle expert, while some may find fault with franchises for their formulaic narratives and reliance on established storylines, I personally appreciate them for providing actors like myself with the unique opportunity to explore original storytelling in different ventures. This freedom allows us to focus on our creative pursuits without undue pressure about box office performance.
In simpler terms, Arjun pointed out that it’s possible to establish a setting that empowers individuals to engage in intriguing activities. He further suggested that the industry ought to recognize and appreciate the artistic aspects of their work, as the audience is clearly enjoying it, and they deserve to be catered to.
“It’s not easy to make a hit franchise; there are enough that haven’t done well. We shouldn’t be apologetic about making them. We should be excited about our audience being open to them. At the same time, we must cultivate the new-age mainstream cinema audience,” he stated.
With several sequels to films like Pushpa 2: The Rule and Drishyam 3 upcoming, standalone movies are still in demand. He pointed out that there could come a time when viewers may grow tired of franchise films. He used examples such as last year’s releases Jawan and Animal to emphasize the continued success of original films.
In terms of his professional life, Arjun is set to appear in No Entry 2, a comedy movie directed by Anees Bazmee. Alongside him, you’ll find Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh playing significant roles. We at TopMob previously shared that the production of this sequel will begin in December 2024, with its release scheduled for the following year in 2025 – a milestone celebrating 20 years since the original film hit the screens.
2005’s film “No Entry” initially starred Salman Khan, Fardeen Khan, and Anil Kapoor in leading parts.
