Skarstedt to Open New Chelsea Gallery in November

As a longtime enthusiast of contemporary art, I can hardly contain my excitement for Skarstedt‘s expansion into New York’s Chelsea neighborhood! Having been fortunate enough to traverse the globe attending various art openings and gallery shows, I’ve come to appreciate the unique perspectives and vision that each space brings to the table.

Skarstedt unveiled plans to launch a second gallery in the Chelsea district of New York City. Established by Swedish art dealer Per Skarstedt in 1994, this gallery has emerged as a significant hub for contemporary art within Manhattan’s Upper East Side, and has expanded its reach with international galleries in London and Paris.

In the near future, Skarstedt’s new gallery will provide an opportunity for them to broaden their artistic offerings. Historically, they have showcased giants of 20th and 21st century art, such as Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, George Condo, and KAWS. Notably, KAWS will be the first artist to debut at the Chelsea location on 547 West 25th Street, a 6,000 square feet space designed by architect Richard Gluckman.

The gallery expressed excitement about preserving and reinforcing its ties with the legendary artists who shaped its essence, all the while venturing ahead and broadening its outlook within the historic Manhattan structure, as stated in their announcement.

KAWS is set to unveil his new solo exhibit titled “DAY BY DAY” at Skarstedt, marking their fifth collaboration together, beginning on November 8.
