Akshay Kumar, well-known Bollywood actor, is gearing up for the premiere of Sky Force, where Veer Pahariya makes his debut as an Indian Air Force officer named T Vijaya. In a recent discussion about history, Kumar opined that it’s essential to reconsider the content of our history books. He argued that while we learn extensively about figures like Akbar and Aurangzeb, we tend to overlook our uncelebrated heroes who deserve more recognition.
In an interview with News 18, Akshay Kumar brought up the omission of T Vijaya’s heroic sacrifice from Indian textbooks, emphasizing the importance of sharing such stories more broadly. He also suggested that history books should be revised to recognize the courage and sacrifices made by Indian Army soldiers.
He pointed out that he deliberately chooses characters who highlight unsung heroes, since many individuals are oblivious to the impact they’ve made because there hasn’t been enough thorough examination of their narratives.
The actor further stated, “It’s essential to revise historical accounts. Many aspects within these texts require adjustment. We learn about figures like Akbar and Aurangzeb, but overlook our local heroes who should also be acknowledged.
Akshay emphasized the numerous tales of courage displayed by members of the Indian Army, pointing out that several have received the Param Vir Chakra. In his opinion, it’s crucial for these overlooked heroes to be showcased in history textbooks, so that upcoming generations understand their selfless acts and leadership qualities.
In addition to Sky Force, which is produced by Dinesh Vijan, Sara Ali Khan plays Veer Pahariya’s love interest. Notable cast members include Nirmat Kaur and Sharad Kelkar. Slated for a global release on January 24, 2025, Sky Force will be shown in theaters over the Republic Day weekend.
