Following the triumphs of Stree, Munjha, and Stree 2, Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik are teaming up once more for the Abhishek Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani-directed film titled Sky Force. Starring Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya, with key roles by Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur, this movie is gearing up for a spectacular cinematic premiere over the Republic Day 2025 weekend. The plot revolves around the Indian Armed Forces as its setting. Sky Force has received an U/A certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a finalized runtime of 125 minutes, or 2 hours and 5 minutes.
The movie is set to premiere nationwide in India, with PVRInox Pictures and distributors planning to show it on approximately 2800 to 3000 screens. Ticket sales for Sky Force began slowly on Tuesday, but after the producers reduced ticket prices, pre-sales increased significantly. Although these numbers should be viewed cautiously, the producers are using this strategy to share their content with a larger audience and encourage word-of-mouth advertising.
On Thursday at 3:30 PM, Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s movie had sold approximately 38,000 tickets across the top three national cinema chains – PVRInox and Cinepolis – on its opening day alone. By the end of the day, the movie is projected to have sold around 60,000 tickets in total. The high pre-sale numbers are mainly attributed to discounted ticket prices, which range from Rs 30 to Rs 50. However, it remains to be seen how the film performs over the weekend as these deals will gradually expire, providing a clearer picture of its overall trajectory.
As a devoted follower, it appears that this strategy might not be sustainable in the long term, but it seems like the creators are making strategic moves to attract viewers on January 26, with the aim of packing the seats and letting positive word-of-mouth spread quickly. The opening day earnings for Sky Force are estimated to range between Rs 8.00 crore to Rs 10.00 crore, setting a strong foundation for potential increases on Saturday and Sunday (Republic Day). The encouraging news is that there’s been a noticeable uptick in sales, and early media reports and industry screenings have been extremely positive. Here’s hoping this momentum translates into substantial numbers in the future.
