‘Slow Horses’ Reins in Season 6 Renewal at Apple

As a fan who has been following this gripping series since its inception, I can hardly contain my excitement at the news of not one, not two, but three more seasons of “Slow Horses” on Apple TV+! The witty banter, the intricate plots, and the outstanding performances led by the brilliant Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb have kept me hooked.

Apple has already confirmed a sixth season for the humorous spy series, “Slow Horses,” which stars Gary Oldman.

The news follows closely after the release of the season four finale on Apple TV+ on October 9, as well as the announcement of a new season (season five) earlier this year.

Upcoming Season 5 unfolds with the “Slow Horses” finding themselves in a dangerous chase, as Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) pulls them into a lethal game of counterattack and vengeance following the events of Season 4.

The television series Slow Horses, derived from Mick Herron’s Slough House novel series, centers around a group of troubled MI5 agents who work in a less-than-desirable branch known informally as Slough House. This team is made up of characters portrayed by Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Samuel West, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Joanna Scanlan, and Jonathan Pryce. In the fourth season, Hugo Weaving was added to the cast as a villain.

Oscar winner Oldman stars as the irascible Jackson Lamb.

Folks worldwide are captivated by the ‘Slow Horses’, and I’m thrilled that Gary Oldman will be spearheading an illustrious cast on another sharp and adrenaline-fueled journey,” Jay Hunt, Europe’s creative director for Apple TV+, expressed in a statement on Tuesday.

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share that “Slow Horses” is a series brought to life by the talented team at See-Saw Films. The executive production is graced by luminaries such as Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Adam Randall, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski, and none other than the esteemed Sir Michael Caine himself.

Television adaptation of season six is being handled by the co-executive producer, Gaby Chiappe, with Adam Randall set to resume directing duties. The first four seasons of “Slow Horses” are currently streaming on Apple TV+, but Apple does not disclose viewership figures for its shows.

2024 saw Slow Horses secure its initial Emmy nominations for season three, landing nine nods in total. Notable among these were recognitions for ‘best drama series’ and ‘best lead actor’ (for Oldman). In the writing category for a drama series, Will Smith emerged victorious.

As a die-hard fan, I eagerly anticipate the forthcoming fourth season, as Smith previously shared with The Hollywood Reporter his intentions to adapt all nine books from the Slough House series for our screens.

As a dedicated fan, I’m sharing my thoughts: Mick is currently penning the ninth installment, but we’ll have to wait and see how it all unfolds. The decision depends on what Apple demands and the audience’s interest, but rest assured, Mick has that knack for leaving us yearning for more rather than overstaying his welcome. However, the world of this captivating series is rich with potential stories yet to be told. Mick has penned an exceptional book titled “The Secret Hours,” which serves as a prequel to Lamb, seamlessly integrating familiar characters into its narrative. It’s a remarkable read that I believe could inspire a shorter-run series, film, or similar project. I know Gary is eager to continue playing his character as long as he’s asked – he truly loves it.
