As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for gripping narratives and heartfelt performances, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing about the acquisition of the film sequel and TV rights to the iconic masterpiece, “Slumdog Millionaire.” This movie, much like my favorite immersive RPG games, transported me into another world, offering a captivating blend of entertainment and profound human experiences.
The newly established film production company, Bridge7, has secured the rights for both the movie sequel and television adaptations of the Academy Award-winning Best Picture, “Slumdog Millionaire.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that I’ve joined an innovative gaming project based in Los Angeles, spearheaded by producer Swati Shetty and veteran agent Grant Kessman. We’ve acquired the rights for a movie close to my heart – Slumdog Millionaire, produced by Celador, U.K., in collaboration with Film4. This 2008 blockbuster, directed by Danny Boyle, introduced us to Dev Patel’s breakout role and the captivating Freida Pinto. The film followed the thrilling journey of two brothers, Jamal (Patel) and Salim, from the slums of Mumbai, who later teamed up with a beautiful girl named Latika, portrayed by Pinto.
As I journey through the high-stakes game show “India’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” my memories intertwine with those of my challenging past – losing my mother in a religious clash, battling to survive as a child and a young adult amid hardships. Yet, these struggles have only fueled my determination, as I inch closer and closer to the life-changing sum of 25 million rupees, inspiring millions of fellow impoverished Indians with my incredible winning streak.
Certain tales linger in our minds even after the final scene, and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is definitely one such story that leaves a lasting impression. The film’s tale transcends cultural and geographical boundaries, and it captures the essence of stories we cherish – those that blend enjoyment with deeply moving human experiences,” Shetty and Kessman expressed in their statement regarding the original film, featuring Mahur Mittal, Anil Kapoor, and Irrfan Khan.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be collaborating with Bridge7 on the upcoming sequel. The deal was masterfully arranged by Paytre Topp in Los Angeles and Nick Miller from Simon Muirhead Burton in the UK, on behalf of Bridge7. Meanwhile, Jessica Hudson and James Kay from Sheridans in the UK skillfully represented Celador International in this exciting partnership.
