As a long-time follower and admirer of Saturday Night Live, I am thrilled to see the addition of three new talented individuals – Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline – to the cast for the show’s 50th season! With their impressive backgrounds in comedy and performances on renowned platforms, they are bound to bring fresh, hilarious content that will keep us entertained week after week.
For the upcoming 50th season, Saturday Night Live is set to welcome three fresh faces as part of its talented cast.
Three new cast members, Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline, have been added to the NBC late-night show roster for the 2024-25 season. The upcoming season is set to debut on September 28, retaining much of the previous ensemble. However, Punkie Johnson and Molly Kearney have chosen to leave the show following the summer break, and Chloe Troast, a returning player from last season, has also decided to depart.
It’s unfortunate that I won’t be returning to SNL this season as I had hoped,” Troast posted on Instagram Monday night. “I was looking forward to reuniting with all the wonderful people I met there, it really felt like a home to me. However, it seems it wasn’t meant to be.
The majority of the veteran actors from the show are anticipated to reappear in season 50. Among them, Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker have been upgraded from supporting roles to regular cast members. Previously known cast member Maya Rudolph will portray Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, leading up to the election. Rudolph has previously played Harris during the 2020 campaign period as well as after Joe Biden and Harris assumed office.
As a passionate gamer, I’m excitedly looking forward to the upcoming season of Saturday Night Live (SNL). Besides the usual episodes, there’s an extra treat coming up – a three-hour primetime special on Feb 16, 2025, marking SNL’s 50 years on television. Though the actual anniversary falls on Oct 11, 2025, this special event promises to be a grand celebration.
Since 2021, Padilla has been a prominent member of L.A.’s Groundlings main company and has made appearances on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Night Court”. Meanwhile, Wakim has showcased his stand-up comedy skills on “The Tonight Show” and the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, where he was recognized as a “New Face of Comedy” in 2022. Additionally, he’s had the opportunity to open for notable comedians like Roy Wood Jr., Nikki Glaser, and Hasan Minhaj. Lastly, Wickline is part of the cast for the sketch show “Stapleview“, which has amassed a significant following on TikTok.
