SNL Cast Mock Trump and Dana Carvey Debuts Elon Musk in Sarcastic Cold Open

As a cinephile who has witnessed the evolution of Saturday Night Live (SNL) over the past few decades, I must say that last weekend’s episode was nothing short of extraordinary. The show has always been known for its political satire, but this time, they truly outdid themselves.

On Saturday night, the comedy series Saturday Night Live has always been known for taking jabs at politics. True to form, this weekend’s episode was no exception. After Donald Trump emerged victorious over Kamala Harris in this week’s polls, the show’s cast got together to celebrate his win… or so it seemed! The show began with its customary cold open on the night in question, but things soon took an unexpected turn to the left, laced with a touch of sarcasm that mocked Trump’s upcoming rule. The episode also introduced a fresh impression by the talented Dana Carvey.

On Tuesday, citizens in America cast their votes and chose Donald Trump as the upcoming President of the United States. This outcome left many individuals, including those tuning into this program at the moment, utterly surprised and, for some, downright terrifying. After Kenan Thompson and Heidi Gardner had expressed their thoughts, Yang commented: “Now, due to the Supreme Court, there are no safeguards in place.” The solemn tone adopted by the performers led to a moment of silence among the audience, until Thompson spoke again. (Paraphrased)

And that is why we at SNL would like to say to Donald Trump, we have been with you all along.

Ultimately understanding the humor, the audience erupted in laughter as cast members playfully lauded Trump. “Each one of us on this stage voted for you,” quipped Marcello Hernandez. “And Mr. Trump, your integrity,” Colin Jost added with a smirk as he joined the scene, “we know you sometimes say things that are questionable, but truly, you’re just expressing the truth. It’s so frustrating how the mainstream media – Michael Che – twists it to make you appear foolish.” The joke becomes even more amusing when we remember that Jost and Che often compete to mock each other as co-hosts of the Weekend Update segment, constantly trying to outdo one another by jabbing at each other.

Dana Carvey Debuts His Elon Musk Impression

Following the addition of their three newest cast members (Jane Wickline, Ashley Padilla, and Emil Wakim), Sarah Sherman publicly declared her enthusiasm for showcasing a new character: Hot Jacked Trump. During his stage appearance, James Austin Johnson donned a red tie as a headband, a tank top, and fake muscles, flexing before expressing admiration for Trump, stating that he would deliver an exceptional presidential term and eventually become king.

Apart from the new character that made its debut, another surprise was in store when long-time Saturday Night Live favorite Dana Carvey appeared as Elon Musk. Dressed in Musk’s signature black clothing and cap, Carvey danced onto the stage, waving his arms, saying, “Look at me, I’m dark MAGA.” He then joked, “In all seriousness, I’ve taken over the country now, and America is going to be like one of my rockets. They’re really cool and fun, but there’s a tiny possibility they might explode, causing everyone to perish.

The cold open concluded with everyone singing along to YMCA by Village People before they did the traditional “Live from New York it’s Saturday night!” After what’s been a tumultuous week for many, it’s nice to see that some things never change, and in these dark times we can still find a little laughter to get us through what’s undoubtedly going to be a rocky four years for America, if not the world.
