For many years, Saturday Night Live (SNL) has become famous for making fun of well-known TV series and their actors. These skits have received mixed reactions from both the celebrities associated with these shows and their fans. Last night, SNL introduced another spoof as part of its 2025 schedule, focusing on HBO’s The White Lotus. In this pre-recorded sketch, Aimee Lou Wood’s character Chelsea was mimicked. Although she has since received an apology from the show, Wood openly shared her feelings about the skit.
In a distinct political slant, the current President (often referred to as “The White House’s top official”) adds depth to the ongoing season of HBO’s popular anthology series, now streaming with a Max subscription. Numerous cast jokes and special appearances mimic real-life political characters, with Jon Hamm from Saturday Night Live 50 portraying Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Secretary of Health and Human Services. At one point, Kennedy discusses fluoride with an unnamed young woman (played by Sarah Sherman), expressing concerns about its removal from drinking water and its potential impact on dental health. The woman then queries about what fluoride actually is.
While playing the character, Sarah Sherman wears a set of false and pronounced teeth. Previously, Aimee Lou Wood talked about her teeth, expressing her desire for them not to be so heavily discussed. Upon checking out Saturday Night Live’s sketch, she took to her Instagram story to express her displeasure with how she was portrayed:
The actress from “Daddy Issues” not only stated that she thought the segment was both harsh and humorless, but also expressed disappointment because she had been enjoying the show lately. Despite receiving apologies from SNL in a different post, she currently feels that the sketch could have been approached more tactfully. Here’s another perspective on the matter:
In her own words, the star of “Daddy Issues” declared that the segment was not only mean-spirited and unfunny, but also regrettable due to her recent enjoyment of the show. Despite receiving apologies from SNL in a different post, she now believes that the skit could have been presented in a more sensitive manner. For more insights:

In “The White Presidency,” U.S. President Donald Trump (James Austin Green) takes a break with his wife Melania (Chloe Fineman), along with other family members and influential political figures. Each character represents the characters from White Lotus, for example, this portrayal of Donald mirrors Jason Isaacs’ character Timothy Ratliff from the series, while Secretary Kennedy resembles Walton Goggins’ character Rick. The video below features cameos by Scarlett Johansson, Lizzo, and others:
(Note: “Potus” is an acronym for President of the United States.)
During the last season of TWL, Aimee Lou Wood drew a lot of attention playing the character Chelsea, who is Rick’s younger girlfriend and somewhat bohemian in nature. Her acting has been highly praised, with Corey Chichizola from TopMob even calling her a standout performer. Furthermore, it appears that the appreciation for her role extends beyond the show, as Wood shared on another Instagram post that she received “thousands” of positive messages from fans after the SNL parody.

On Max, you can start streaming “The White Lotus” for as low as $9.99 per month with their Ads plan. If you prefer an ad-free experience, there are higher tier plans available. Plus, if you opt for a yearly subscription, you could save up to 20%! Check it out now: View Deal
It appears that the British actress is handling the impersonation on Saturday Night Live with a casual grace. Notably, it’s impressive that the show has extended an apology to her in some way or another. However, I can’t say for certain if the show will stop creating such parodies altogether. Yet, there’s potential for this situation to inspire the writers to create more complex and nuanced versions as Aimee Lou Wood suggests.
On the 3rd of May, Saturday Night Live (SNL) comes back with a fresh episode. Quinta Brunson is set to be the host, while Benson Boone will entertain us as the musical guest. If you can’t wait that long, you can already watch episodes by subscribing to Peacock.
