Snøhetta Reimagines the Norwegian Football Team’s Training Grounds

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that Snøhetta has crafted not one, but two extraordinary designs for our beloved Norwegian National Football team’s future training grounds. These proposals elegantly pay tribute to our Nordic roots, using classic architectural styles that resonate deeply with our heritage.

The suggested locations are found in the cities of Asker and Ski, which border Oslo. These designs draw inspiration from traditional Norwegian structures such as the Long House, but Snøhetta’s modern style is showcased through innovative alterations to the surrounding environment, creating striking new landmarks for both cities.

As a captivated admirer, I’d say one of the designs boasts a breathtaking terrace landscape adorned by an architectural marvel that harmoniously merges with lush greenery. Atop this structure, a circular skylight establishes a base for a central courtyard, casting a warm, inviting glow on the interiors through the magic of natural light. Following the cascading terraces, elongated steps double as pathways and seating areas, offering a scenic journey down to the fields below.

The buildings, subtly molded to harmonize with their surroundings, boast of eco-friendly Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) construction and wooden facades, lending them a natural texture. Solar panels installed on rooftops provide a sustainable energy source for the facilities. In addition, these designs incorporate modern training centers, administrative offices, a sports school, and external offices for the Norwegian Football Association.

Above, you’ll find visuals of Snøhetta’s suggested design concepts. At the moment, a definite completion date for this project remains undisclosed.
