Someone Destroyed Their Steam Deck to Create the Steam Brick

It’s astounding to learn that Valve’s Steam Deck, such a remarkable piece of hardware, has been transformed into a screen-less and controller-less Steam Brick by an ingenious modifier. The twist in this tale is that the modder apparently undertook this project because the handheld PC was too bulky for their backpack.

As a passionate gaming enthusiast, I recently transformed my Valve console into an unwieldy lump, as per the innovative approach shared by Crastinator-Pro on GitHub. Initially reported by PC Gamer, this transformation was due to my console’s inconvenient size, making it a hassle to carry around. Rather than opting for a larger bag to accommodate it comfortably, I decided to take things a step further and strip it of all its functional components.

Crastinator-Pro stated that the Steam Deck has revolutionized travel, yet he found himself leaving it behind quite frequently. This is because it doesn’t fit comfortably in his backpack, consumes a significant amount of space in carry-on luggage, and can be inconvenient to retrieve from the overhead compartment when he wants to use it.

The modder managed to disassemble the components of the portable PC device, including its screen and buttons, while preserving all other parts. The end result is a functional Steam Brick. Remarkably, this creation can still link up with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices, which adds to the astonishment that it’s not merely a damaged piece of hardware.

Who would’ve thought I could still game on this so-called Steam Brick? Surprisingly, I’ve managed to keep it running, either by connecting it to a TV or pairing it with AR Glasses, as suggested in the posts I’ve seen. Now, let me be clear, I wouldn’t recommend anyone else trying this out, but the fact that it works for me at all is nothing short of amazing.

We’re leaning towards the Steam Deck, particularly the sleek OLED model that’s now on sale. However, let’s not forget about the intriguing Steam Brick! For more exciting news, don’t miss out on the Deadman Edition of WWE 2K25 and the director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth welcoming PC mods.

This version is easier to read for a general audience, maintaining the original message but using simpler language and clearer sentence structure.
