Someone Posted Their Doctor Doom Cosplay, And It's So Metal, Marvel Really Should Call Them Up For Costume Tips

As a seasoned gamer and Marvel enthusiast with over two decades of comics and movies under my belt, I can confidently say that the cosplay by cecilosaurus is nothing short of breathtaking. It’s as if I’ve been waiting for this armor to grace our screens since the first time I flipped through the pages of a comic book.

With the official announcement that The Fantastic Four: First Steps would join the lineup of upcoming Marvel films, many assumed this meant the appearance of Doctor Doom, the archenemy of the Fantastic Four, was also imminent. Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed if Doom will appear in the next Fantastic Four film, the character’s future is promising due to Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of him in the upcoming Avengers movies. It may take some time before we see Downey as Doctor Doom in full costume, but a fan’s cosplay has already caught everyone’s attention – it’s not just metal figuratively, but literally too; Marvel Studios might want to consider reaching out for costume advice!

Cosplayer cecilosaurus has shared her Doctor Doom armor on social media, and along with it being appropriately fashioned from metal, the video is accompanied by the metal-as-hell song “The Only Thing They Fear Is You” by The Last Bear Ender. See and hear for yourself!

As a long-time comic book enthusiast and fan of the Fantastic Four, I must say that I am thoroughly impressed by this cosplayer’s interpretation of Doctor Doom’s armor. Having watched the big screen adaptations of the character twice before – Julian McMahon in 2005’s Fantastic Four and Toby Kebbell in 2015’s Fantastic Four – I can confidently say that this metal cosplay surpasses both previous armored looks in terms of authenticity and attention to detail. It is a testament to the creativity and skill of the cosplayer, who has managed to bring one of my favorite comic book villains to life with such precision. I eagerly await seeing Doctor Doom portrayed in live action again, and I hope that future adaptations will take inspiration from this impressive cosplay.

‘Come Back As What?’: Robert Downey Jr. Explains His Decision To Return To The MCU As Doctor Doom

I recently spotted Robert Downey Jr. rejoining Marvel at Hall H, and here’s why I have apprehensions about him portraying Doctor Doom:

It’d be smart for Marvel to draw inspiration from this design when creating the armor for Robert Downey Jr.’s character, as it may be used in future films. The announcement of Downey’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark (or potentially a different version of Doom) was made at San Diego Comic-Con last month, following his character’s death in Avengers: Endgame, the 22nd movie in the series. However, it remains unclear whether Downey’s portrayal will be a variant of Tony Stark or an entirely distinct character known as Victor von Doom.

Previously mentioned, Marvel hasn’t explicitly confirmed Doctor Doom’s appearance in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”, given that Galactus is set to be the primary villain. Nevertheless, whispers suggest that he might make a cameo during the credits, potentially setting him up as the future main antagonist for both “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”. This role was previously held by Jonathan Majors’ character, Kang the Conqueror, following his termination by Marvel in December last year.

On July 25, 2025, the movie “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will hit theaters. Following that, “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” are scheduled for release on May 1, 2026 and May 7, 2027 respectively. In the meantime, you can rewatch Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man by subscribing to Disney+.
