Sonakshi Sinha reveals 'older' actor refused to work with her, claiming she looked ‘older than him’: ‘Main tumse 5-6 saal choti hoon’

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the nuances of Hollywood-style Bollywood, I find Sonakshi Sinha to be not just an exceptional actress but also an inspiring figure who fearlessly tackles the challenges faced by women in the film industry. Her recent revelation about facing ageism and sexism is a stark reminder of the double standards that continue to exist within our industry, where actresses are often judged harshly for their appearance and age while male counterparts enjoy a greater degree of freedom.

Actress Sonakshi Sinha, renowned for her powerful performances and bold spirit, recently disclosed a surprising event from her professional life. She confessed that a more experienced male colleague refused to collaborate with her, stating she seemed older than him, despite the fact that she was 5-6 years his junior.

During a roundtable discussion with Zoom, Sonakshi Sinha shed light on the stark gender disparities in the film industry. She pointed out how actresses often face harsh scrutiny for their appearance and age, while male counterparts continue to romance much younger women on screen without criticism.

From body image to age-shaming, the burden of these double standards, she noted, disproportionately falls on women. The Heeramandi actress reflected on facing prejudice from older actors who claimed she looked older than them, despite being younger by 5-6 years.

Sonakshi mentioned that she’s encountered some actors who are older than her, and they’ve commented, “She seems older than us.” She gratefully acknowledged not having to work with people harboring such opinions and emphasized the additional hurdles women face when striving to break boundaries and carve their own paths in the industry.

She emphasized that the struggle for women in cinema should not be so stark compared to men, as all are artists at heart. She added, “Arey, main tumse 5-6 saal choti hoon!”

Sonakshi Sinha countered Mukesh Khanna’s criticism about her upbringing, following a Ramayana question miss on Kaun Banega Crorepati. She emphasized that the other competitor also didn’t know the answer, yet she was the one who received attention.

Recognizing a brief mistake on her part, the actress made it clear that his persistent attacks against her and her loved ones were unacceptable. She emphasized that her polite response was rooted in the values taught by her father, Shatrughan Sinha, and urged him to cease dwelling on the past incident, deeming it outdated.
