Regarding Mufasa, its prequel earned a second place of $35 million USD in 4,100 theaters worldwide. It was anticipated to gross at least $50 million for the opening weekend but fell short. The high-profile cat had a slow start to the film that cost over $200 million to produce and another $100 million to market globally. Despite receiving an A- CinemaScore, it did not translate into significant box office earnings.
