With countless chart-topping hits and an enormous fan base, he’s made a lasting impression on the industry. Sonu Nigam revealed Michael Jackson’s connection with SRK starrer Ye Dil Deewana

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Sonu Nigam shared how recording the hit song “Ye Dil Deewana” from the movie “Pardes,” featuring Shah Rukh Khan, was a turning point in his career. This song continues to be one of Sonu Nigam’s most cherished classics. He acknowledged that music directors Nadeem-Shravan significantly contributed to him getting this chance to shine in Subhash Ghai’s film.

He mentioned that he had previously assured them of his ability to handle Western projects. When the chance arose for “Ye Dil Deewana,” they proposed Subhash Ghai’s name to him. As a result, he began receiving offers for modern songs from Nadeem-Sharavan.

The distinctive “ah” in the track, delivered passionately by Sonu Nigam, was not an impromptu decision but rather a carefully planned homage to Michael Jackson. According to Sonu, this memorable element was deliberately included as a tribute to the music legend.

In his own admission, he admitted, “The ‘ahs’ in the song were my attempt to mimic Michael Jackson’s style. I couldn’t make sense of what he was singing, only his ‘ahs’ resonated with me. During the composition of Ye Dil, I believed these ‘ahs’ would fit perfectly. Subhash ji was impressed and exclaimed, ‘What a mischievous boy you are!’ He appreciated my powerful rendition.”
