Sony Pictures Entertainment appointed Jay Levine as Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, and Head of Business Operations. In this role, he will be responsible for managing the company’s mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate development, and investment strategies.
Previously serving as the CEO at Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Productions, Levine is moving on to Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). He had just joined Hartbeat last year after departing from Warner Bros., where he managed the corporate development team. In his new role, Levine will continue overseeing similar responsibilities at Sony, reporting directly to Ravi Ahuja, the president and CEO of SPE.
Ahuja expressed his excitement at welcoming Jay to Sony Pictures, noting Jay’s extensive knowledge and excellent reputation, as well as his collaborative nature and strong connections that will aid our company’s growth. As a passionate enthusiast, I find myself joining SPE at a pivotal time for media mergers and acquisitions. The market’s turbulence adds complexity to valuations until there’s greater clarity, while the Trump administration’s tough stance on M&A deals could pose challenges. However, the relatively smaller deals that SPE has traditionally pursued might face less scrutiny.
