It was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday that A24 is set to acquire the rights for Eva Victor’s Sundance success, titled “Sorry, Baby”.

Victor’s movie, penned, orchestrated, and featuring herself, narrates the account of a university lecturer coping with the aftermath of sexual assault. As per the synopsis, “A terrible incident occurred in Agnes’ life. Yet, it seems that life continues… for those surrounding her at least.”

The movie authored, helmed, and starring Victor follows a college professor struggling with recovery from a sexual assault. According to the plot summary, “A distressing event transpired in Agnes’ existence. However, it appears that for those around her, life carries on.

It was observed by A24 that the bidding process was extremely competitive, yet they are set to secure global rights for the film. The total cost has not been disclosed as of now.

Actors Naomi Ackie, Lucas Hedges, John Carroll Lynch, Louis Cancelmi, and Kelly McCormack join forces for a film, with Barry Jenkins from “Moonlight”, Adele Romanski, and Mark Ceryak serving as producers. The movie won Sundance’s Waldo Salt Award for Screenwriting, and received a perfect 100% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. According to Jon Frosch of The Hollywood Reporter, it’s “a compelling, at times remarkably powerful theatrical debut.”
