To me, the plot seems reminiscent of ’90s television.

Now we have an idea of the new obstacle Georgie and Mandy will encounter when their sitcom comes back on Thursday, January 30th, at 8:00 p.m. ET. If you’ve been keeping tabs on the potential causes that might lead to their divorce, be prepared to add one more to the list when “Diet Crap” premieres.

Mandy Will Get A Job Selling A Diet Fad

For quite some time, various diet trends have been popular, that much is certain. However, there’s an undeniably 90s vibe to Mandy taking a job selling weight-loss shakes within a supermarket. The narrative suggests potential strife between Mandy and her husband related to her new occupation:

The situation becomes tense as Georgie interferes with Mandy’s fresh sales opportunity. On the other hand, Audrey grapples with feelings of conflict when Jim decides to avoid pampering Connor.

In the initial pictures from the comeback, the product “Nuvotrim” that Mandy endorses doesn’t appear to have been a genuine weight loss trend in any era. However, it shares a similar color scheme with certain diet brands I recall from the ’90s, and its name resembles other products. It looks like Georgie might take issue with Mandy’s new occupation, and an image from the winter premiere offers a hint about his reason for disagreement.

In simpler terms, since Georgie is known for his straightforward nature, one might speculate if “Diet Crap” is a phrase he uses in the upcoming episode of “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage“. If he undermines her current job, there’s a risk she could lose it, which might result in some lingering anger towards him.

It’s unfortunate timing because Connor has just endorsed Georgie as a fantastic individual to Audrey. The first season of “Georgie & Mandy’s Wedded Journey” has been a delightful ride for me, filled with charming references to the ’90s, such as Jay Leno’s voice appearance. I’m eager to witness more of these nostalgic elements in future episodes, but there’s also a rich narrative about their marriage and Georgie’s struggle following George Sr.’s demise that needs exploration. So far, season 1 has been superb, and I hope the quality remains consistent as it returns.
