Space Marine from Warhammer 40K is due for a reboot and will be accessible via Xbox Game Pass from the get-go. This revamped version will be playable on both Xbox Series and PC, with its release slated for June 10th.
The remaster served as the climactic revelation during the Warhammer Skulls 2025 event, which unveiled multiple projects tied to the franchise. Notably, the remaster of a cherished third-person shooter garnered significant attention this year.
Originally launched in 2011, Space Marine is a title created by Relic Entertainment (now under Sega’s wing, as THQ has passed the baton) that didn’t exactly ignite the gaming world upon release but still managed to cultivate a passionate niche fanbase. Fast forward to 2024, when Space Marine 2 took the gaming scene by storm, and this dedicated following eagerly embraced the sequel, propelling it to become a massive success. In fact, the game sold an astounding 4.5 million copies in its first month on sale.
Thanks to its tremendous success, the spin-off series will soon introduce a third installment. Publisher Focus Entertainment has already given their approval for this project, making now an ideal moment to return to the original through Game Pass.
The enhanced version of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine has been created by SneakyBox, a team specializing in remastering games. This updated edition will offer numerous upgrades such as high-definition 4K graphics, refined control schemes, a completely redesigned user interface, and advanced character models along with remastered sound effects for an overall polished experience.
2025 has been an exceptional year for Game Pass, witnessing significant growth in its user base. Kicking off with Avowed at the beginning of the year, followed by day-one releases such as Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, indie titles like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 vying for Game of the Year, first-person shooters including Doom: The Dark Ages, and classics like Metaphor: ReFantazio joining the lineup, it appears that Xbox has found a winning streak at the moment.
Space Marine 2 wasn’t launched on Game Pass initially. Could it be that a future deal is in store for the third installment to premiere there on release day? We’ll have to wait and see.
