As a seasoned gamer and someone who has spent countless hours immersed in various horror video games, I can’t help but feel a shiver down my spine when I watch the trailer for Speak No Evil. The imagery and suspense evoked in those few minutes are reminiscent of the most terrifying moments I’ve experienced while gaming.
If you’re traveling with your family abroad, beware of this cautionary tale: If a group of unfamiliar people invite you to their secluded countryside estate, consider it a red flag. Make a quick exit instead. This warning apparently didn’t reach Louise and Ben Dalton, portrayed by Mackenzie Davis and Scott McNairy in the second trailer for “Speak No Evil.”
Louise, Ben, and their 11-year-old daughter Agnes (Alex West Lefler) unwisely form a friendship with Paddy (James McAvoy), his spouse Ciara (Aisling Franciosi), and their silent son Ant (newcomer Dan Hough). The more time the Dalton family spends with them, the more they suspect something is amiss. However, like many of us who dislike conflict, they choose to keep quiet and maintain the facade instead of addressing their concerns. But be warned, McAvoy’s chilling performance in “Split” is nothing compared to what you’ll see here!
As a huge fan of horror films, I can’t help but be thrilled by the latest news coming from the Blumhouse production house. Jason Blum, the man behind some of the most chilling productions in recent history, recently celebrated the start of production on Universal’s new Wolf Man film with director Leigh Whannell. This collaboration between two horror powerhouses is a cause for excitement among fans like me who have been captivated by their past works.
Watch the Second Trailer for James McAvoy Thriller Speak No Evil
As a big fan, I’m excited to share that the new collaboration between Universal Pictures and Blumhouse, helmed by director James Watkins (known for “The Woman in Black”), is an English-language adaptation of the 2022 Danish film titled “Gæsterne.” The script was brilliantly crafted by the dynamic duo of Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup. Their work on this project earned an impressive eleven nominations at the Danish Film Awards – a recognition similar to the Academy Awards in the U.S.
McAvoy explained to GamesRadar that Christian Tafdrup, the director of the original version, strongly emphasized the limits of human obedience in the film. The new production stays true to its roots while introducing some fresh elements.
The actor revealed that the new version will have fewer explicit scenes than the original. He described it as a psychological thriller with a frightening concept, instead of a traditional horror film. Obtaining jumps or startles from horrifying actions is simple, he added. Since becoming a parent, he has grown more cautious about not solely relying on gore for scares.
