As a long-time Marvel fan, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of seeing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man don the black symbiote suit and potentially share screen time with Tom Hardy’s Venom in the MCU. Having followed the rumors and speculations for years, I find myself eagerly awaiting any updates on these tantalizing possibilities.
It’s no surprise that Marvel generates buzz, and while rumors don’t make them any less exciting to ponder over, they certainly stir up conversation! It’s already confirmed that Destin Daniel Cretton will direct Spider-Man 4, with Tom Holland and Zendaya set to reprise their roles. However, an intriguing possibility arises: there might be a chance for Holland to don the recognizable black suit in upcoming Spider-Man movies, potentially sharing screen time with Tom Hardy’s Venom character within the MCU.
According to Cosmic Circus’ October Q&A with Alex Perez, who is well-known for his Marvel news, Perez was asked about potential updates on the upcoming “Spider-Man 4”. Specifically, he was asked if Tom Holland would don the iconic symbiote suit in the fourth film. Perez replied that he would soon provide an answer, but as far as he knows, Tom Holland will wear the symbiote suit within a few years and continue to use it for several more Spider-Man movies.
The whispers suggest that the symbiote character may debut in Spider-Man 4. During an interview, Perez was asked if more villains would be featured, potentially including Venom (depicted by Hardy in the Marvel Sony films) and Knull, to which he replied “More symbiotes.” This could pave the way for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to acquire the suit, allowing that narrative to unfold. Additionally, there have been rumors about Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire regarding their potential involvement in Spider-Man, with Perez stating, “I heard there’s a strong likelihood they’ll appear for an extended role this time around, given the multi-verse setting of the story.
Will Tom Hardy Join The MCU as Venom?
Is it possible that symbiotes being involved in Spider-Man 4 could mean Tom Hardy’s character Eddie Brock/Venom might join the Marvel Cinematic Universe? When asked about this, Perez replied, “To be determined.” Since 2018’s Venom, Tom Hardy has played the role, and there was a sort of cameo in 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage, where Eddie is transported from a hotel room and sees footage of J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) discussing Spider-Man’s true identity as Peter Parker. This scene hints at Sony and Marvel Studios’ desire to connect these two universes.
Hardy recently said that the upcoming Venom: The Last Dance will be his final Venom film, but that doesn’t rule out the actor appearing in future MCU projects, especially if they concern the symbiote making its way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the comic books, the symbiote first attached itself to Spider-Man during the Secret Wars limited series, released in 1984. The symbiote ultimately exposes itself as evil when connected to the Web-Slinger, leading him to eventually reject it, where it would then bond with Eddie Brock and become Venom. Given that Avengers: Secret Wars is set for release in 2027, signs seem to point to the symbiote potentially playing a role here, but, as of now, it’s all speculation.
