Spider-Man Noir Amazon Series Set Images Reveal Nicolas Cage's Super Suit

As a cinephile with decades of comic book and superhero movie experience under my belt, I must say that the upcoming “Spider-Man Noir” series is a dream come true for fans like myself. Having grown up reading the comics and being captivated by the steampunk aesthetic of this alternate version of our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, seeing it come to life on the big screen with the iconic Nicolas Cage in the lead role is beyond exciting.

The forthcoming “Spider-Man Noir” series featuring Nicolas Cage is now being produced, and the first on-set photos have disclosed the superhero costume he’ll wear in his live-action debut. Known as Spider-Noir, this series will portray the character voiced by Cage from the popular “Spider-Verse” films, an aged multiverse version of Spider-Man using vintage gadgets and suit design. Set in a bygone era, it draws its inspiration directly from the comics, as suggested by the remarkably authentic superhero costume.

Images recently surfaced on X/Twitter, showing a stunt person dressed in a faithful-to-comics superhero suit on the set of Spider-Noir, a production by Amazon MGM Studios. For fans who have seen this character before, in animated TV shows and movies, the goggles, trench coat, and historical setting will look familiar. Although Nicolas Cage isn’t pictured wearing the suit in these set images, it’s likely that he’ll be sporting the famous costume at some point. Keep an eye out for an official reveal of the upcoming series, as the production leaks suggest it won’t be long before we get a sneak peek.

In various formats, there exists a steampunk adaptation of Spider-Man, popularly known as Spider-Noir. While Spider-Noir first emerged in live action through a series, fans of this alternate hero have previously encountered him in the animated Spider-Verse and can control his actions within the game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, which is highly regarded by many as one of the top Spider-Man games ever made. This game was even eclipsed in popularity recently by the new Insomniac franchise, which has been adapted into animated films. It could be argued that Spider-Noir gained significance in the superhero realm before the character was developed on the big screen by Cage.

Spider-Man Noir First Look Images Look Unreal

Stepping away from the usual Spider-Man narrative, I find myself drawn to the captivating world of Spider-Noir, a detective series set in the 1940s with a mesmerizing steampunk vibe. The upcoming Amazon series boasts an impressive cast led by none other than the talented and versatile, Oscar nominee Brendan Gleeson, who will be portraying the villainous role. Joining him are a host of talented actors such as Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, and Amanda Schull. While plot details are still under wraps, including Gleeson’s character, the official logline promises an exhilarating ride that I can hardly wait to experience!

Spider-Noir narrates a tale about a worn-out, hard-luck detective (played by Cage) in the 1930s New York City. This former superhero of the city, now struggling to make ends meet, must confront his past as he grapples with the remnants of his heroic days.

One major question that remains unanswered is if Spider-Noir is connected to the Spider-Verse films, or if it is set within the same multiverse as the MCU. More than likely, the upcoming series recruited Cage under the guise that it will be a standalone series, and not necessarily set up something grander. This is probably the best way to tackle one of the more underrated characters in the Spider-Man world. Sony has been intent on creating their own superhero universe with Spidey-related characters, but perhaps leaving projects like Spider-Noir in its own corner is for the better. After all, the stacked award-winning cast is more than enough to justify the adaptation.
