The captivating video game titled “Split Fiction” has sparked a frenzy in the gaming community, and it’s aiming to create a similar buzz in the movie industry with a film adaptation already in the works only two weeks post-release. Developed by Hazelight Studio, known for hit couch co-op games such as “It Takes Two” and “A Way Out,” the game sold over 2 million units within its first week. The excitement surrounding this project is palpable, with couples, friends, and families worldwide finding themselves in heated debates while playing together on the same screen, making “Split Fiction” and the revitalized concept of cooperative gaming the hot topic on social media platforms.
Based on reports, the “Split Fiction” film is being worked on by Story Kitchen at this time. The project is still in its initial stages, with the company gathering writers, actors, and a director for the team. Once the creative group has been assembled, they plan to offer the entire package to potential studio buyers. At present, specifics about the movie are under wraps; it’s undecided whether it will be a live-action production or an animated one.
Similar to numerous titles by Hazelight Studios, “Split Fiction” is designed for two players and seamlessly incorporates teamwork within its narrative. Crafted by Josef Fares and Sebastian Johansson, this game chronicles the journey of Mio and Zoe, authors who find themselves ensnared in a digital realm that mirrors their invented worlds, following an enigmatic antagonist’s attempt to swipe their intellectual property. The storyline effortlessly transitions between fantasy and science fiction elements, promising a visually thrilling cinematic experience.
‘It Takes Two’ Is Also Getting a Movie
The excitement for couch co-op games is building up again! Besides Split Fiction, another title from Hazelight is set to make a big screen debut. It’s been announced that the much-loved “It Takes Two” (or affectionately known as the “Divorce Simulator” by fans) will be getting a live-action movie adaptation. Although Split Fiction‘s studio hasn’t been finalized yet, significant progress has already been made on the production of “It Takes Two.” Amazon is taking the lead in developing this film alongside Seven Bucks Productions and dj2 Entertainment. As Dwayne Johnson is producing through Seven Bucks, there have been whispers that he might star in the movie, but it remains unconfirmed at this time.
The movie “It Takes Two” centers around May and Cody, a couple on the brink of divorce. When their daughter makes a heartfelt wish for them to stay together, they are mysteriously transformed into two dolls she has crafted. In order to return to their human forms, they must learn to cooperate once more. The screenplay for this film is being penned by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, who have previously collaborated on “Sonic the Hedgehog” and its initial sequel.
The upcoming movie adaptations of “It Takes Two” and “Split Fiction” leave fans, who have played the games, wondering: will cinema tickets be sold in pairs to ensure viewing with a friend? As of now, neither “It Takes Two” nor “Split Fiction” has announced their release dates.
