- Spongebob: Bubble Pop is the latest game from Netflix and Nickelodeon
- It’s a mix of match3 and bubble-popping puzzle game
- You’ll be able to unlock a whole variety of costumes and abilities for the ‘bob
As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating through the vibrant digital worlds of various gaming platforms, I must admit that I’m always intrigued by the latest collaborations between popular media franchises and the gaming industry. The latest offering from Netflix Games and Nickelodeon, SpongeBob: Bubble Pop, is no exception.
The team-up between Netflix Games and Nickelodeon has just gone live, introducing SpongeBob: Bubble Pop! Now you can dive into the world of Bikini Bottom for an enjoyable experience. This fresh match-3 bubble-bursting game might not be complex, but for enthusiasts of the iconic, yellow, spongy sea resident – or their children – it promises to be a delightful addition to Netflix’s offerings.
It’s not surprising that both Nickelodeon and Netflix are keen to make SpongeBob SquarePants available for players as well. After all, the beloved animated show by Stephen Hillenburg is already offered on their service, and moreover, the latest Sandy Cheeks movie has been exclusively added to their streaming library.
From a gaming perspective, Bubble Pop Fun isn’t particularly groundbreaking, but it seems like an engaging blend of match-3 and bubble popping mechanics. What sets it apart, though, is its absence of microtransactions, which I believe is a big plus given that Netflix Games service incorporates it as part of the subscription package.
F is for friends…
It’s strange to see Spongebob Squarepants now and recall that it felt like a big part of my childhood, not realizing it has been around for almost a quarter-century without any signs of slowing down. For some, it might seem like it’s stayed too long (particularly after the passing of its creator, Stephen Hillenburg), but you can understand why networks like Nickelodeon and Netflix want to keep profiting from its enduring popularity.
However, there’s an expansive universe of games available, and if you’re uncertain about diving in, consider giving a spin to a few games from our handpicked list of the top 25 free-to-play games on iOS and Android.
