Squid Game Season 3: Final Game Countdown Starts June 27!

Netflix has announced the release date for the highly anticipated third season of Squid Game.

During a recent major presentation by the streamer, it was announced that Netflix’s hit Korean drama, “Squid Game,” will make its comeback on June 27th. This upcoming season is said to be the final installment of the series, with the second season having been released on Dec. 26th last year. The show garnered a record-breaking number of views in the U.S. for any streaming title in 2024, accumulating an impressive 4.92 billion minutes of viewing during the week of Dec. 23-29 alone.

Picking up from the suspenseful ending of season two, the last season is said to revolve around “Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who finds himself in despair after losing his friend within the game and discovering that The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) has been deceiving everyone by secretly participating in the game. As Gi-hun works to end this deadly game, The Front Man orchestrates his next scheme, and the decisions made by the remaining players could lead to increasingly severe consequences with each round played. The season’s chilling poster urges viewers to “get ready for the ultimate showdown.

Initially, writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who’s back for the final season, had mentioned he designed a three-season narrative structure. However, he hasn’t ruled out future spin-offs. “During the first season, I used to say there wouldn’t be another season,” Hwang shared with The Hollywood Reporter during the release of season two. “So if the right moment arrives, and it turns out that I can create a new character or a distinct story, then possibly there might be a return. But for now, I’m considering more possibilities of spin-offs.
