As a die-hard fan of suspenseful dramas who has lived through countless cliffhangers, I can confidently say that Squid Game Season 2 left me reeling with anticipation for the upcoming third season. The sheer amount of questions and mysteries left unanswered after that dramatic finale has left me on the edge of my seat, eagerly awaiting the next installment.

I have seen my fair share of TV shows that failed to deliver a satisfying resolution, but Squid Game has proven time and again that it is not one of them. The show’s creators have expertly crafted a world filled with intrigue, deceit, and high stakes, leaving viewers like me craving more.

Given my extensive experience in binge-watching shows, I can confidently predict that the third season of Squid Game will not disappoint. The hint at a new creepy robot doll in the post-credits scene has piqued my interest, and I’m excited to see how it fits into the larger narrative.

As someone who enjoys a good joke, I can’t help but wonder if the show’s creators are planning to pull a fast one on us with that new robot doll. Perhaps it will be yet another twist in a long line of twists, or maybe it’ll turn out to be nothing more than a red herring. Only time will tell, and I can hardly wait!

Just as gripping and captivating as its initial season, the acclaimed Netflix series, Squid Game, has made a comeback for another round, leaving viewers spellbound yet again. The second season of this show unfolds two years later, with Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) having won the substantial prize money. He’s been using it to track down those responsible for the gruesome games. With a fortune beyond his dreams, Gi-hun yearns to dismantle these deadly contests forever. However, when things don’t go according to plan, he finds himself battling to stay alive in another round of these lethal games.

As Gi-hun navigates through the initial rounds of games, he swiftly comprehends that the strategies he employed previously won’t suffice to rescue himself or others this time. The Red-Light Green-Light game might have retained its familiarity, but the subsequent games have undergone significant changes. Meanwhile, Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-joon) and Woo-seok (Seok-ho Jeon) are diligently working off the island to locate where Gi-hun is held captive. However, once the GPS tracker attached to Gi-hun’s tooth is removed, his friends find themselves in a challenging task of locating a hidden island amidst countless possibilities. Nevertheless, they persist and gradually get closer to discovering the secret island.

In the recently concluded season of Squid Games, they managed to deliver just seven episodes. Given this concise timeline, the finale didn’t offer the same satisfying resolution as its initial season. Consequently, it’s undeniable that another season is imperative to tie up the loose ends left by that suspenseful conclusion.

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I find myself drawn to the intriguing twist that Player 001, the character played by Lee Byung-hun, is not what they seem. Unlike in the first season, this time viewers are privy to the secret from the get-go, as The Front Man masquerades as Oh Young-il and mingles with the other players. To add to the suspense, he even teams up with Gi-hun, who is oblivious to his true identity. Throughout the games, The Front Man helps orchestrate the rebellion against the soldiers, all while closing in on his goal as Gi-hun gets closer to the control room. Yet, despite the chaos, everyone remains unaware of Young-il’s real identity, and they will most likely believe he perished during the revolt along with the others.

From the start, viewers are acquainted with the Front Man, but Sea Captain Park (Oh Dal-su) is a different tale. He rescued Jun-ho from the sea in the past and has since supported his quest to find the island. However, it’s revealed that Captain Park is secretly working against Jun-ho, aiming to thwart his return to the island and overthrow those controlling the games. Tragically, only one team member uncovered this deception before being fatally stabbed and thrown overboard. As a result, it seems everyone in Season 2 may not be who they appear to be. With the widespread deceit already causing significant consequences for Gi-hun and Jun-ho, it’s expected that Season 3 will lift the veil and uncover the truth.

A Third Season is Necessary If Viewers Want Answers

Clearly, the thrilling finale has left viewers curious about what’s next for Gi-hun and the other players. Since Gi-hun survived the uprising, it seems unlikely he will die at the beginning of Season 3, raising questions about how his story unfolds further. Will they continue playing these dangerous games following the massacre? That’s a possibility. Or could something entirely new be introduced that we haven’t seen before in Squid Game Season 3? There was a subtle hint at what’s to come in the credits of Squid Game, but just what does it mean? The players have already experienced Red-Light Green-Light, so what on earth is that ominous giant robotic doll?

To elaborate: What happens to the players who didn’t take part in the game earlier on? Will they get a second chance to vote on whether to leave or carry on playing the games? Meanwhile, will the soldiers learn if Cho Hyun-ju (Park Sung-hoon) was involved in the rebellion and take action against her? Or will she manage to survive the games? These questions only scratch the surface of what’s unfolding beyond the island. Will Jun-ho and Woo-seok uncover the truth about Captain Park before he eliminates another team member? Why did Captain Park save Jun-ho years ago, only to betray him later on? Many questions remain unanswered.

As a film enthusiast, I must say the first season of this show provided a satisfying resolution, but unfortunately, the second season left me hanging with more questions than answers. In fact, the finale was quite a nail-biting cliffhanger that has left me and many other viewers eager for answers. Without a shadow of a doubt, we’re all hoping for a third season to unfold the mysteries that were set up in that Season 2 ending. Fortunately, it looks like we’ll be getting it on Netflix sometime in 2025! By the way, if you haven’t seen Squid Game yet, it’s currently streaming on Netflix.
