- Squid Game: Unleashed is set to receive fresh content to celebrate season two of the hit show
- New characters, a new map and challenges are all being included
- You can also gain exclusive rewards by watching episodes from the new series!
As a die-hard fan of Squid Game and Netflix originals, I’ve eagerly anticipated the release of Squid Game: Unleashed ever since it was announced. The idea of playing my favorite Korean drama as a battle royale game seemed too good to be true! But now that it’s finally here, I couldn’t be more thrilled with how they’re celebrating season two.
With the new map inspired by Mingle and the addition of fresh characters like Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and even Thanos (the rapper!), I can’t wait to jump back into the game and explore these new features. Plus, the exclusive rewards for watching episodes from season two? Count me in!
I must say, Netflix is really pulling out all the stops with this one – making Squid Game: Unleashed available to non-subscribers was a bold move, but now they’re sweetening the deal even more by encouraging viewers to watch the show. I can already hear my wallet thanking me!
I’ve always admired Netflix for their innovative approach to entertainment, and this latest move with Squid Game: Unleashed only solidifies that sentiment. It’s a clever way to promote both the game and the show, and I can’t wait to see where they take it next.
Oh, and let me tell you, if Netflix ever decides to add a “Squid Game: The Office” crossover event, I just might have to cancel my subscription to every other streaming service!
Before the holiday season, Netflix decided to offer Squid Game: Unleashed for free, their battle royale-style adaptation of the popular Korean drama, even to users who aren’t subscribers. To entice these non-subscribers, they’re introducing new content and rewards for watching the show in anticipation of season two.
Initially, let me clarify what changes you’ll encounter if you’re currently engaged in the game. As of January 3rd, there will be a fresh update incorporating a map design reminiscent of Mingle, one of the central mini-games featured in Squid Game season two. Additionally, three new characters, Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and Thanos (the musician, not the Marvel character), will make their appearance as playable avatars until the end of January.
On January 3rd and 9th, Geum-Ja and Thanos will each have exclusive in-game events that allow you to unlock them. If you’re planning on tuning into Squid Game season two, you’ll not only enjoy the show but also reap extra rewards! By watching up to seven episodes of the new season, you’ll earn both in-game Money and Wild Tokens, which you can use during your viewing experience. Plus, unlocking all seven episodes will reward you with the brand-new Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Game on
With that in mind, here’s all the specifics to expect this coming month for Squid Game: Unleashed:
- January 3rd: Introduction of the new map, Mingle and Geum-Ja whose Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event runs until the 9th and tasks you with completing Mingle-Inspired mini-games and collecting Dalgona tins.
- January 9th: Thanos arrives, alongside his own recruitment event with Thanos’ Red Light Challenge that tasks you with eliminating players using knives to earn this character; runs until the 14th.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik arrives in-game as the final additional character of this current crop!
It’s increasingly apparent that Squid Game: Unleashed could mark a significant milestone in Netflix’s gaming aspirations. Offering it for free to players was daring, but incentivizing subscribers by rewarding them and prompting them to watch the original series is an even more clever strategy to boost Squid Game: Unleashed’s success alongside the actual show.
