Sridevi, Anil Kapoor’s black and white THROWBACK PIC from Mr India shoot will remind you of good old days; fans demand sequel with Ranveer Singh

As a child of the ’80s, I can vividly recall the magic that was Mr India. The mere sight of this throwback photo brings back a flood of memories, transporting me right back to my childhood living room, huddled around our old CRT TV, mesmerized by the spectacle unfolding on screen.

Instead of reminiscing about the past during those early hours of Wednesday, Boney Kapoor shared a vintage photo from his Instagram account that took us back to the eve before 1987’s blockbuster movie Mr India started its journey. The captivating throwback snapshot included Sridevi, Anil Kapoor, and Javed Akhtar in their finest attire.

In this photo, Boney Kapoor appears as if he’s a real-life hero. Although Anil Kapoor and others in the picture are dressed in white shirts and jeans, Sridevi is wearing a long dress, much like her character from the film. The post was titled, “January 5th, 1985 – Right before the first-day shoot of Mr. India.” Take a look here:

A social media user remarking about Boney and Sridevi stated, “It’s astonishing to consider that these two individuals in this photograph had no inkling they would fall in love, create history, and contribute to the lore of a legendary family.” Meanwhile, another person pondered, “Incredible! Did it take approximately 2-3 years to produce? Was it launched in 1988?”

Under the Narsimha Enterprises banner, Mr India was a superhero movie that was co-produced by Boney Kapoor and Surinder Kapoor. This film was directed by Shekhar Kapur. The story and screenplay for this movie were written by the legendary duo Salim-Javed, who had previously worked together many times but eventually had a famous falling out after this project. Laxmikant-Pyarelal created the soundtrack for this timeless film, which became the second highest-grossing movie of 1987.

1989 saw a Tamil adaptation of Mr. India titled En Rathathin Rathame, and in Kannada as Jai Karnataka. A 3D follow-up named Mr. India 2 was announced back in 2011, but production has yet to commence.
