The anticipation for Season 5 of Law & Order: Organized Crime is almost at an end, and previews hint that the show’s availability on streaming platforms doesn’t limit its connection to NBC shows. Actress Mariska Hargitay from SVU will make an early appearance in the upcoming season of Organized Crime, scheduled for 2025, marking the first time Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler share screen space since May 2023. The latest previews offer a glimpse into why this reunion occurs, and though it seems troubling for Stabler, I can’t wait to catch up with him using my Peacock subscription!
In the premiere of Season 5, the initial trailer offers a wealth of hints about Detective Stabler’s upcoming undercover mission, yet no sign of Benson making an appearance. However, fans will indeed witness Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni sharing screen time again in the second episode. As an added bonus, both the first and second episodes will be available for streaming on April 17th exclusively on Peacock. Interestingly, the first episode will also reclaim its original 10 p.m. ET slot on NBC as part of Organized Crime. For those eager to know why Benson shows up, take a look at the latest promo for more insights.
Through his 16 seasons on both Organized Crime and SVU, Elliot Stabler has managed to overcome numerous challenges. However, getting T-boned in a car accident that causes the vehicle to flip doesn’t seem to be something he can easily shake off. As a result of this incident, Stabler finds himself in the hospital, with his condition being severe enough to possibly consider the end of his journey.
From the images, it appears that Benson is expected to go to the hospital to meet up with his former colleague, friend, or potential romantic interest. A closer inspection of these pictures may provide more clarity on the context of this episode.

In the first picture, Stabler appears disheveled and seems either asleep or unresponsive. I’m known for appreciating hospital scenes in TV dramas due to the character growth they often bring… as far as I’m concerned, as long as no characters meet an untimely end. I must say, I’m still haunted by what transpired with Jamie Whelan. Thankfully, for our Organized Crime protagonist, Benson won’t be the only one showing concern at the hospital; there will be others who care about him too.

Danielle Moné Truitt reappears as Sergeant Ayanna Bell, while Dean Norris has been upgraded to a regular cast member for Season 5, playing Elliot’s brother Randall in the series. The initial trailer hints at the comeback of Ellen Burstyn as Bernie Stabler, leading me to ponder if any of the Stabler children might make an appearance. It seems we can expect more than a brief appearance from Mariska Hargitay, though.

Overall, it seems that Law & Order: Organized Crime is off to a promising start. With the first two episodes scheduled for release on April 17th on Peacock, viewers won’t have to endure a long wait until late April or May to catch Mariska Hargitay’s guest appearance. Additionally, NBC airing the Season 5 premiere after the two-part crossover with SVU should provide a significant boost to Christopher Meloni’s show.

Discover the first season of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” exclusively on streaming, along with every episode from “OC” and “SVU”, by subscribing to Peacock TV at a low cost of $7.99 per month. Starting this April 17th, I’ll be tuning in weekly on Thursdays to catch the newest episodes of “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” The first two will kick off the season, with the following two shows crossing over at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. In a nice twist, “Organized Crime” will have a special primetime slot that night at 10 p.m. ET, which means there’ll be a break for Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s “Found” that week, but it’s definitely going to be a thrilling night for any fans who’ve been longing for their weekly “Law & Order” fix on Thursdays.
