A new documentary about renowned figure Stan Lee, titled “Stan Lee: The Final Chapter“, is on its way, but it needs support to be released. This film promises to reveal some earth-shattering insights into the industry. Stan Lee, a legendary creator in the Marvel universe, lived a long and fruitful life, but towards his final days, one of his assistants, Jon Bolerjack, aims to shed light on the troubling circumstances he faced. A trailer for this potential documentary has been unveiled by Comicbook, and it hints at the possibility that those close to Lee exploited him financially in his later years.
The trailer depicts a distressing scene of an elderly gentleman being moved from one convention to another, from photo opportunity to photo opportunity, amidst hordes of Marvel merchandise to autograph. Although it’s uncertain how willingly and able he was to engage in such activities, the videos suggest a weary man with no apparent power to halt the countless hours of work that generated substantial income, which some claim was misused to enrich those associated with the aging celebrity.
During the final years of Lee’s life, it was well-known that he suffered elder abuse, and he even sought a restraining order against his ex-business partner, Keya Morgan, who eventually faced elder abuse charges. Despite having extensive footage from Lee’s behind-the-scenes life during these years, the documentary is still in need of funding to complete production. The Kickstarter campaign for this film has recently been launched with a goal of $300,000, aiming to release the completed film before the end of the year.
Addressing The Elephant (Kirby) In The Room
Noted American comic book artist Jack Kirby, famous for collaborating on Marvel’s iconic characters such as Captain America, the Incredible Hulk, and the Fantastic Four, had a complex professional bond with his colleague Stan Lee. Controversy swirls around claims of mistreatment that Lee is said to have inflicted upon fellow Marvel creators, specifically artist Jack Kirby. These allegations were particularly highlighted by a statement issued by Kirby’s son following the release of the Disney+ documentary ‘Stan Lee’, which did not touch upon such issues.
Despite questions about Lee’s actions and misdeeds, Bolerjack’s documentary intends to reveal to the world that even someone as powerful as the one who allegedly took advantage of others, was himself a victim of elder abuse in his later years. Each viewer has the discretion to choose whether they want to hear about his hardships. However, the documentary seems to bring attention to a crucial issue like elder abuse, particularly within the bustling entertainment industry. Bolerjack aspires to demonstrate to audiences that anyone, regardless of their status, can become a victim of abuse and exploitation.
