Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 Production Kicks Off with Exciting New Image!

The filming for Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has commenced, and an exclusive backstage snapshot has been unveiled, as depicted in the picture provided below.

Among the current Star Trek series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which premiered in 2022 on Paramount+, stands out as one of the finest. The show focuses on the exploits of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), Mr. Spock (Ethan Peck), Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn as Number One), Lt. Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), and other members of the U.S.S. Enterprise’s crew, all before Captain James T. Kirk assumes command.

Over two seasons, “Strange New Worlds” has garnered impressive ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, boasting a nearly flawless 98% critical score and an impressive 79% audience approval. Compared to “Picard” (89% critical, 57% audience), “Discovery” (84% critical, 33% audience), and the poorly received “Section 31” starring Michelle Yeoh (19% critical, 16% audience), it stands out as a clear favorite. Interestingly, critics and audiences seem to have differing opinions on “Discovery” and “Picard”, but they agree on the merits of the other productions.

When Will Season 3 of ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Debut?

With the announcement that production for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 has started, it’s natural to wonder about when we can expect Season 3. The first season was released on Paramount+ in May 2022, and Season 2 followed a year later in June 2023. As of now, Paramount and CBS have only confirmed a 2025 release for the new season, but they haven’t specified an exact date yet.

In March 2023, co-creator and co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman announced the upcoming Season 3 of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” before the premiere of Season 2. Notably, a significant part of the show’s cast is coming back, including Paul Wesley portraying young Kirk. Moreover, Cillian O’Sullivan from “In From The Cold” was confirmed as Dr. Roger Korby, and Rhys Darby from “Jumanji: The Next Level” has joined the series in an unspecified role.

The second season concluded with the emergence of the character Gorn, accompanied by the appearance of the fan-favorite Lieutenant Montgomery “Scotty” Scott, portrayed by Martin Quinn. The creative force behind the series, executive producer and writer Henry Alonso Myers, shared insights on how Scotty joined the cast:

During our conversation on the topic, the thought suddenly arose. At first, it belonged to another character entirely. However, as Akiva and I discussed further, I suggested, “Why don’t we consider Scotty?” That suggestion resonated with us both, and we grew fond of the idea.

Details about the plot for Season 3 are still unknown, but production has been postponed due to Hollywood strikes. At the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, it was confirmed that the show won’t feature another musical episode, as both producers and cast expressed their dislike of it. Previously, the musical episode caused division among fans, with Peck stating explicitly, “No more singing.” Additionally, producers have mentioned that Season 3 will delve into new genres.

We’ve brainstormed numerous genre possibilities for ‘Star Trek’, and we aim to explore beyond these limits. In other words, we’re venturing into uncharted territory in terms of genre. While we’ll continue to deliver the classic sci-fi adventures, there will be a moral lesson woven into each story. We’re pushing the boundaries and excitedly look forward to your feedback.

In the warmer months of 2025, likely around April to June, we might anticipate the premiere of the fresh season for the series Strange New Worlds.
