As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of immersion in the sprawling Star Wars universe, I must admit my heart skipped a beat upon hearing the news of a new trilogy in development at Lucasfilm. The prospect of more epic adventures set within this galaxy far, far away is tantalizing to say the least.
According to Variety, a fresh Star Wars trilogy is currently being worked on at Lucasfilm. It’s rumored that these three upcoming films will be penned and produced by Simon Kinberg, who gained prominence through his work on various X-Men movies.
Initially, it was believed that the trilogy would function as episodes 10, 11, and 12, taking place after the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” in 2019. However, an article from Deadline revealed that there were conflicting views among insiders, implying that this trilogy might not be directly connected to the previous films and could instead form a separate film series on its own.
As reported by Variety, alongside Kinberg, Kathleen Kennedy – who holds the position as President at Lucasfilm – is also involved in the production of the upcoming trilogy.
It’s known that “Star Wars” is planning to unveil two upcoming movies, scheduled for 2026 and 2027 respectively. However, the names of these projects are still under wraps at this time.
