Starfield players unconvinced by its latest big vehicle rumour

As a long-time gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I have seen my fair share of game releases that promised the world but failed to deliver. Starfield, Bethesda’s latest offering, is one such game that has left many of us feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. After all, it’s been 12 long years since Skyrim graced our screens, and nine since Fallout 4.

Bethesda aimed high with Starfield, but detractors argue that the sci-fi adventure wandered off course in space. It’s been over a decade since Skyrim was launched and nearly 6 years since Fallout 4, causing some fans to question if Bethesda’s characteristic bugs are becoming less endearing.

Despite expectations that Starfield may gain popularity with the release of its Shattered Space DLC akin to Cyberpunk 2077, the timing of this addition is uncertain. Before Shattered Space arrives later this year, can Starfield successfully introduce land vehicles to keep fans engaged?

In an update to developers last May, Starfield’s Lead Creative Producer Tim Lamb revealed that “the team is developing our initial land vehicle.” He even shared a short clip demonstrating the new mode of transportation in motion. Considering the vast exploration of desolate planets was a significant concern for players regarding Starfield, introducing land vehicles is long overdue.

The team hasn’t announced when land vehicles will be released, but some people thought they might come out around the same time as Shattered Space. However, a recent leak on GamingLeaksandRumours suggests an earlier release. But since the original source is 4chan, we need to be cautious and take this information with a grain of salt.

Based on the rumor, it seems that land vehicles may be introduced in the upcoming update with two different versions: a roofed one and an open-top one. Each version will come equipped with weapons that can be adjusted based on your proficiency level. The first weapon is said to enable bullet time in laser mode, while the second is a launcher.

You’ll apparently have the ability to purchase ATVs without a hab, with them conveniently appearing near your spaceship. Customization options are limited to selecting different colors, suggesting an additional $5 cost for more extensive customization. The most striking feature is their potential lack of need for fuel and invulnerability – however, this raises some concerns as they may not be truly functional in this capacity.

Despite all the given points being valid, Starfield skeptics remain unconvinced. They believe the game is barely hanging on and prefer waiting for Shattered Space instead. Vehicles aren’t enough to lure some players back based on current Steam player counts that rarely surpass 10k.

In reaction to the rumor, an indifferent player expressed, “The DLC may attract people once more, but I’m doubtful. Though I used to enjoy it when it was new, my appreciation has faded over the past year. I recently tried playing it again and discovered that I no longer had the desire to continue.”

“One commented, ‘That’s interesting, but the destinations you reach aren’t particularly captivating. It’s akin to applying a bandage to a severed limb,'” and another remarked, “I wish they would abandon this project and concentrate on Elder Scrolls instead.” Despite the criticism, Bethesda has the ability to change the minds of Starfield’s detractors.
