The Fighting Fantasy Classics collection expands yet again, introducing Starship Traveller this time around. Originally penned by Stephen Jackson in 1984, this well-loved tale has been transformed into a science fiction gamebook suitable for contemporary devices by Tin Man Games. In Starship Traveler, you assume the position of a starship commander who finds yourself stranded in an uncharted region of the cosmos following an encounter with the Seltsian Void. With no obvious route back home, you must embark on a journey to discover alien planets, navigate diplomatic relations with strange societies, and engage in intense space battles. Your choices significantly impact your own survival, that of your crew, and the condition of your vessel.
The studio has updated Starship Traveller utilizing its Gamebook Adventures Engine, making the gameplay more engaging while preserving the original essence. In this role, you’ll oversee up to seven crew members, dispatching them on perilous expeditions to uncharted planets. An integrated tracking system takes care of statistics, space battles between ships, and mapping, allowing you to concentrate on the exciting journey itself.
If you find the main game too challenging and desire a more casual experience, the Free Read mode would be ideal. Designed with a traditional dice system and adjustable difficulty levels, it’s perfect for those who appreciate a less intense adventure. As for the dice rolls, they are physics-based and interactive, adding a sense of realism to your decisions.
The Fighting Fantasy Classics library continues to grow; within about six weeks, Eye of the Dragon, penned by Ian Livingstone, will join our collection.
