The art complex, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, will soon be welcoming visitors within the cultural heart of the city, Saadiyat District.
Covering an expansive 17,000 square meters, the newly opened museum delves into how artworks emerge from their environments as a unique phenomenon. Each exhibit is carefully designed to draw and envelop visitors within the artworks’ collective existence, enabling them to harmonize with their surrounding atmosphere.
Embracing the idea that our reality is intricately woven with the environment around us, I find it fascinating to consider “environmental phenomena” as more than just natural occurrences. Instead, they embody a deeper truth – that existence isn’t solely tied to physical matter, but rather to fundamental elements like air, water, and light, which are dynamically shaped by their surroundings. As we nurture and preserve our environment, these artworks of nature continue to thrive even when physically disrupted.
Visitors will be surrounded by a deep crimson ambiance in “Levitation Void”, an area where a massive orb floats predominantly in open space. In “Massless Suns and Dark Suns”, the surroundings are filled with countless light orbs that sparkle when they collide with each other or are touched by humans.
Starting April 18, the space is open every day of the year, with operating hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Some of the works can be previewed here or via the video below for additional insights. For comprehensive details, please check out teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi’s official website.
