Steph Curry Signs One-Year $62.6 Million USD Extension With Golden State Warriors

As a lifelong Warriors fan and a gamer who has spent countless hours on NBA 2K simulating Steph Curry’s career, this news is like hitting the jackpot! It feels surreal to see one of my favorite players extend his tenure with the team he’s been synonymous with for years. The fact that he wants to retire as a Warrior just adds to the emotional rollercoaster I’m on right now.

Steph Curry is set to continue his career with the Golden State Warriors for an additional year, having signed a one-year extension contract estimated at approximately $62.6 million USD. This deal keeps the four-time NBA champion playing with the Warriors until the 2026-27 season.

As reported by ESPN, Stephen Curry is now assured of earning $178 million USD over the next three years as part of his contract with the Golden State Warriors. Currently, he has two years left in his current four-year deal worth $215.4 million USD, which he signed in August 2021. Due to the NBA’s rule that players who turn 38 during their contract cannot be offered more than a four-year deal, Curry was able to secure a one-year extension. At present, Curry is 36 years old and has expressed his desire to play only for the Warriors throughout his career. He hopes to retire with this team, having stated back in July that “I’ve always said I want to be a Warrior for life. At this stage in my career, I feel like that’s possible.”

Curry is coming off an Olympic gold medal win, his first-ever on that stage. He will also become the fourth NBA player to pass $500 million USD in career earnings, joining LeBron James, Paul George and Kevin Durant. Curry enters his 16th season this fall. In the 2023-24 NBA season, he averaged 26.4 points on 40.8% 3-point shooting, 5.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game. With Klay Thompson leaving for the Dallas Mavericks, Curry steps into a new era as a 10-time All-Star, a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP and an Olympic gold medalist who has helped the Warriors win four NBA championships.

Looking forward to more historical moments and cherished memories with the Golden State Warriors, as they’ve just extended Steph Curry’s contract 🤝.
