Sterling K. Brown is looking out for his This Is Us co-stars, Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia.
In an interview with Extra, the Emmy-winning star shared that he had conversations with Moore and Ventimiglia following the devastating L.A. wildfire that destroyed their respective homes. He is now using his upcoming Hulu series, “Paradise,” as a platform to promote it.
He conversed with Milo and then Mandy; spoke to each of them. It’s challenging, they’re right in the thick of everything, he stated. “Taking things one step at a time” is his approach.
Moore successfully evacuated her family and pets from the fires. She expressed her affection for Altadena, along with deep gratitude towards friends who provided shelter, clothes, and blankets. Overwhelmed by the devastation she witnessed, she is in a state of shock and numbness, as many have lost their homes, including some of her family members. In her Jan 8 Instagram post, she shared videos of her driving through the community that was engulfed in flames. She lamented the loss of her children’s school and favorite restaurants, while also acknowledging the losses suffered by numerous friends and loved ones. Despite the heartbreaking state of their community, Moore vowed to rebuild together with love for everyone affected and working tirelessly to control the fires.
As a devoted fan, I can share that just like me, who cherishes every scene of Gilmore Girls, Ventimiglia and his expectant spouse unfortunately witnessed their home being engulfed by flames, too. In an interview with CBS News, this talented actor shared the heart-wrenching experience of watching his house burn down on the very security cameras that usually bring him comfort.
Ventimiglia stated that there’s a moment when reality sets in, a sort of ‘aha’ moment where you realize this event is real and unfolding, but at some point, we find ourselves detaching from it. It becomes a question of why should we continue watching, as we’ve come to terms with the loss.
After making his way back home, Ventimiglia found the remains that were left behind. With their first child due soon, witnessing the destruction of what was supposed to be their nursery was a deeply emotional experience for him and his wife. “It’s hard not to think about all the memories stored in various corners of our house, and then you look at your neighbors’ homes and everything around, and it’s just heart-wrenching,” he expressed. Showing resilience, he commented, “We’ll manage” and emphasized that his family is what truly matters to him most.
