Steven Nerayoff, who serves as an advisor to Ethereum, has initiated a legal action against the American government for allegedly making false claims and maltreatment by federal agents between 2019 and 2023.
A lawsuit, brought under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) and filed for alleged intentional misconduct, requests $9.6 billion in damages due to a criminal case initiated against the defendant in 2019. This legal battle, which lasted around four years, concluded in May 2023 with the dismissal of the lawsuit by the U.S. government.
Former Ethereum advisor, Steven Nerayoff, is suing the US government for $9.6 billion. He claims that the government extorted him and seeks compensation for the damages incurred during the four-year-long charges which were eventually dropped after being found baseless.— TOBTC (@_TOBTC) April 9, 2024
A recently submitted SEC-95 document unveils that Eleanor Terrett of FOX Business reportedly shared information from Nerayoff stating that federal agents were aware the accusations against him were entirely unfounded. Subsequently, Nerayoff alleges that certain experts not only employ threatening and retaliatory tactics but also fabricate evidence to extort financial reimbursement from him.
According to Nerayoff’s legal team, the US government is accountable for the irreparable damage done to his reputation and businesses. Therefore, filing a lawsuit against the US government is considered appropriate.
