Love Me Will Be Streaming in June
In this post-human world, an unlikely romance blossoms between a buoy and a satellite, who connect online. Through their interactions, they uncover the mysteries of Earth’s past, gaining insights into life, love, and self-discovery.
In their first foray into feature filmmaking, the duo Sam and Andy Zuchero, made an impressive entrance with their movie titled “Love Me”. This debut production of theirs garnered significant acclaim at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, taking home the esteemed Alfred P. Sloan Prize worth $25,000. This honor is bestowed upon films that either revolve around or showcase characters from the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Preceding winners include “After Yang” and “Embrace of the Serpent”.
In January 2024, Doron Weber, executive at the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, expressed great joy in acknowledging Sam and Andy Zuchero’s movie, Love Me, a unique and creatively captivating production that explores the essence of human identity and our relationships within an artificial intelligence-dominated post-human world. He also mentioned that this year’s winners are exceptional additions to the Sloan film program and serve as evidence of the enduring vitality stemming from the two-decade collaboration between the Sloan Foundation and Sundance.
Love Me Was the Filmmaking Debut for the Zucheros
The Duo Started Making Films Togethers as Teens but Love Me Was Their First Feature
- The directors’ feature debut was picked up by production company 2AM – which had previous hits with Bodies Bodies Bodies and .
- Love Me features a score from singer-songwriter David Longstreth, who has worked with Rihanna, Sir Paul McCartney and Solange.
- Producer Shivani Rawat’s notable credits include Captain Fantastic and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
During the debut of the movie, Stewart and Yeun openly discussed the challenges they faced in distinguishing their voiced tech devices from their portrayed physical characters.
In a harmonious way, there seems to be a connection that binds us all, even those who appear to hail from completely opposite corners of the globe. So, I believe that the raft could represent nothing more than me. And when I say ‘me,’ I’m referring to myself, because my character is named ‘Me.’ However, it’s important to note that I can’t be anyone else but myself, Stewart explained.
I believe that [the Buoy] may feel envious sometimes towards things that make life easier or make people more likable. It seems we all do this from time to time, regardless of our confidence levels. Even if we appear self-assured or self-reliant, we are all interconnected. I can’t imagine who I would be without observing others and learning from them. In a way, we all follow our own paths, but there’s a lot of common ground among these characters.
There’s a sense of unity or shared commonality that links us all, regardless of where on Earth someone may appear to originate.
Stewart and Yeun conversed about the extraordinary “aspiration” they harbored, which involved breathing life into a heartwarming tale of affection between a buoy and a satellite.
In simpler terms, Yeun shared that reading the piece, he admired its overall flow and sincerity, which he believes is rare in today’s world of self-expression. He found it refreshing because it seemed like a genuine glimpse into the writers’ personalities rather than just telling us who they are. To him, this level of vulnerability was courageous and made the script intriguing for him to work on.

Stewart commented: “I believe it’s straightforward to consider the ambition, which might resemble a supposed mission statement. For instance, ‘Ah, this is a future scenario.’ In essence, we might be making assumptions and expressing statements about our existence on Earth and the internet as a whole. To me, it was all about the question of authenticity and individuality, and how these are concepts — ones that enable us to endure but also, if you simplify them, they lead us back to connecting with one another.
Love Me debuts on Paramount+ with Showtime on Monday, June 16.
