At the packed Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California, during the FireAid wildfire relief concert, Green Day’s leader, Billie Joe Armstrong, passionately declared, “California, Los Angeles, Altadena, the Palisades – we stand united!
To begin the spectacular night filled with celebrities, the legendary rock band played their 2009 hit “Last Night on Earth” first, inviting artist Billie Eilish to join them. They emphasized that we were all part of a shared experience by saying, “We’re in this together.”

Each of these versions conveys the same information but uses slightly different wording to create variety and make the text more engaging to read.
Billy Crystal, an actor and comedian who had recently lost his home in the Palisades Fire, appeared following Green Day’s performance to warmly greet the audience. He shared his personal story with the crowd, mentioning that he was wearing the same clothes he evacuated from his burned house, which he hadn’t changed for a week. Crystal announced that all donations made that night would be matched by Steve Ballmer, owner of the Clippers, and his wife Connie Snyder. He added that U2 had been the first to contribute, giving $1 million dollars according to Crystal.
Alanis Morissette and Anderson .Paak maintained the momentum of the event. Morissette sang her 1998 hit “Thank U,” expressing messages of appreciation.
In my opinion, tonight’s event in Los Angeles is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular evenings, and that’s what the artist expressed to the audience. To make things even more exciting, a surprise special guest, the iconic rapper Dr. Dre, joined the show.
In a heartfelt moment, the rapper expressed his gratitude. He’s been in this line of work for 40 years come summer, and it has filled him with an immense amount of love. As he prepares to celebrate this milestone, he thanked everyone for their support. His admiration also extends to the brave first responders and firefighters who risk their lives daily. Love, he emphasized, is the essence of his current state. Before launching into his and Tupac’s classic track “California Love,” he paid tribute by performing with .Paak, singer Sheila E., and the crowd erupted in cheers.
Notable musician Joni Mitchell enchanted the audience as she graced the stage for a seldom live performance at a charity event. The gathering also featured testimonials from individuals personally affected by the fires. Among them were Dr. Eshele Williams, her sisters, and mother from Altadena, who have connections to the community since 1948 when their grandmother purchased a home in the neighborhood. Dr. Williams shared that out of the five on stage, four had lost their homes in the fire.
She shared with the gathering that we hastily gathered what we could – photographs, her grandmother’s treasured clock, along with her father’s ashes and the flag he was awarded for his military service. She expressed that our deep connection to our community is palpable at this time, as we are all collectively mourning a profound sense of loss.
Dawes, a popular folk rock band, played a cover of their 2011 hit “Time Spent in Los Angeles.” The band’s lead singer, Taylor Goldsmith, who is married to actress Mandy Moore, and the drummer, Griffin Goldsmith, his brother, were personally affected by the fire. Unfortunately, Griffin had to deal with the loss of his home, while Taylor suffered the loss of his studio, which housed most of their musical instruments.
Additionally, Dawes invited Stephen Stills to join him for a performance. Later on, one of the most exciting moments of the night unfolded – a reunion between Stills and Graham Nash, the renowned members of Crosby, Stills, and Nash. They then took the stage to perform their 1970 hit, “Teach Your Children.
“Take care of yourself, take care of one another,” Nash finished.
Several key figures from various industries were already present at the event. Apple executive Eddy Cue was noticed with one of the show’s organizers, Irving Azoff. The director Cameron Crowe, known for Almost Famous, was also spotted in the same viewing section. Meanwhile, manager Roger Davies could be seen at the Forum stage prior to Pink’s scheduled performance.
Partnerships have been formed between Live Nation, AEG, the Azoff Company, the Intuit Dome, and Kia Forum in Inglewood to organize a benefit concert, characterized as an evening of music and unity. These concerts are being aired on certain AMC Theatres, Apple Music, the Apple TV App, Max, iHeartRadio, KTLA+, Netflix/Tudom, Paramount+, Prime Video, Amazon Music Channel on Twitch, SiriusXM, SoundCloud, Veeps, and YouTube. This shows how the music industry is coming together in response to the local crisis.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled that the proceeds from this concert are being channeled towards a 501(c)(3) specifically established for this event. This organization aims to help rebuild our city’s infrastructure, support families who have been displaced due to unfortunate circumstances, and invest in cutting-edge fire prevention technologies and strategies. My hope is that these efforts will make Los Angeles more resilient against future fire emergencies.
FireAid is being created collaboratively by Shelli and Irving Azoff, as well as their family, together with Live Nation and AEG Presents.
This post will be updated throughout the show.
