Stranger Things Creators Producing New Horror Series for Netflix

As a dedicated gamer and avid fan of horror shows, I can hardly contain my excitement for the latest addition to Netflix’s horror roster, “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen.” The involvement of the brilliant minds behind “Stranger Things,” Matt and Ross Duffer, has me hooked from the get-go. Their ability to create captivating stories with atmospheric horror elements is unparalleled, and I’ve been a loyal fan since the first season.

The renowned team responsible for creating one of television’s most successful shows, “Stranger Things,” are set to produce a new horror series for Netflix named “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen.” The Duffer brothers, who are currently producing the final season of “Stranger Things,” will serve as executive producers on the new project through their Upside Down production company. Haley Z. Boston, a 29-year-old filmmaker, will oversee the new series. She previously wrote for Netflix’s “Brand New Cherry Flavor” and Guillermo Del Toro’s “Cabinet of Curiosities.”

According to Variety, the Netflix original series “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen” has appointed Andrea Sperling (known for her work on “Transparent” and “A Murder at the End of the World”) as an executive producer. This chilling show, described as an “atmospheric horror series,” is preparing to unfurl its suspenseful tale.

“In this chilling horror game called ‘Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen,’ I play as a bride or groom in the countdown to our wedding week. Spoiler alert? Nope, just take a look at the title!”

Peter Friedlander, the Vice President of Scripted Series at Netflix for the US and Canada, expresses his excitement about collaborating with Matt and Ross Duffer once more. He also commends the fresh perspective brought by newcomer Boston to their team.

We’re excited to team up once more with our ideal collaborators Matt, Ross, and Hilary to breathe life into this surprising and chilling tale using Haley’s captivating perspective.

The Duffer brothers, renowned for producing one of the most popular TV shows ever, are well-versed in identifying talent. With “Stranger Things,” they’ve brought Millie Bobby Brown and her co-stars into the limelight. Millie started acting on the show when she was only 10 and has since enjoyed a remarkable career, while Finn Wolfhard has also shone brightly, featuring in Andy Muschietti’s “IT” movies, as well as “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and its upcoming sequel.

Over the past four years, Haley Z. Boston has quietly been adding impressive credits to her resume. However, she’s poised to make a big splash in Hollywood as an up-and-coming writer, with the Duffers expressing great admiration for her work. In their own statement, they were moved to declare that Boston is a “rising talent” after reading her script for “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen“.

“Upon reading Haley’s script for the first time, we were taken aback by her unique and captivating writing style. Her work is a mesmerizing blend of terror, wit, and the uncanny, distinctly Haley’s own. We are thrilled to be part of bringing her debut production to life and can’t wait to introduce her extraordinary vision to the world.”

The Duffer brothers have other projects in development through their Upside Down Productions label aside from the ominous “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen.” These include a live-action series based on “Death Note,” the famous Japanese manga, and an animated adaptation of “Stranger Things.” Stay tuned for updates regarding “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen.”
