Streaming Ratings: ‘1923’ Finale Hits Series High

The season two finale of 1923 brought in the show’s largest audience ever.

Paramount+ reported that the final episode of the “Yellowstone” spin-off series drew 14 million viewers across the globe within a week, marking a significant increase of 41% compared to the 10 million viewers who tuned in for the first season finale back in February 2023.

To clarify, the term “viewers” used by Paramount+ is derived from a similar calculation as other streaming platforms refer to as “views.” This formula involves dividing the total viewing time by the run time. In the case of ‘1923’, this math equates to approximately 14 million complete season finale watches, given it was two hours long. This results in a global total viewing time of approximately 1.68 billion minutes.

1923’s second season experienced a 46% increase in viewership compared to its first, making it one of Paramount+’s top three original series so far. Alongside Landman and Tulsa King, these shows are all produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Taylor Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions. Notably, Sheridan is the mastermind behind each of these series.

In March of 2019, a show or movie ranked fifth in terms of streaming popularity across the United States, based on Nielsen’s data. The series accumulated approximately 3.9 billion minutes of viewer time throughout the month, with the final figures for the finale (which premiered on April 6th) not included in this total as it fell outside of the reporting period, which covered the tail end of February as well.

1923 is being developed by Sheridan executive in collaboration with David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Ben Richardson, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox.
