Streaming Ratings: ‘Landman’ Hits High, ‘Squid Game’ Huge Again

In the opening weeks of 2025, the series “Landman” on Paramount+ experienced an upward trend, achieving its highest viewing duration yet in Nielsen’s streaming rankings. Meanwhile, Netflix enjoyed another strong week with “Squid Game.

Last week, from Dec 30 to Jan 5, the Korean series garnered approximately 4.6 billion viewing minutes in the U.S., surpassing the 4 billion mark once more, a week following its season two debut. Compared to its record-breaking return, the series experienced only a minimal decrease of about 7% in viewership, totaling 4.92 billion minutes.

In the week before its ninth episode, Landman garnered a staggering 1.3 billion minutes of viewership. Since debuting on the charts at the end of November, the Taylor Sheridan series featuring Billy Bob Thornton has consistently boosted its totals in each subsequent week.

In addition to your show, two other programs surpassed a billion minutes watched in their debut this year: “Virgin River” on Netflix clocked 1.39 billion minutes, while “Missing You,” another Netflix series adapted from a Harlan Coben novel, garnered 1.02 billion minutes. Interestingly, “Missing You” fell short of the 3 billion minutes watched in the first week of “Fool Me Once,” another Harlan Coben adaptation on Netflix last year. Lastly, Apple’s “Silo” made its debut on the charts with 417 million minutes viewed.

In the world of library series, shows like Bluey, Grey’s Anatomy, and The Equalizer have all surpassed the billion-minute threshold. Interestingly, Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga climbed to the top of the movie charts upon its addition to Netflix on December 30, while still being available for streaming on Max as well.
