Streaming Ratings: ‘The Perfect Couple’ Opens on Top With Big Premiere Week

As a seasoned streaming enthusiast who’s seen more shows than I care to admit, let me tell you that the latest rankings have left me utterly astounded! The Perfect Couple premiering at number one with an impressive 1.91 billion minutes viewed is nothing short of phenomenal. It’s a testament to the star power of Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, and Dakota Fanning that they managed to pull off such a captivating murder mystery.

For its debut week, The Ideal Duo climbed to the number one position across all streaming platforms according to Nielsen’s rankings.

During the week of September 2nd to 8th, the murder mystery limited series featuring Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, and Dakota Fanning amassed a view time of 1.91 billion minutes upon its premiere on September 5th. This total places it as the fifth highest for any original series debut week on streaming platforms this year, following Fool Me Once (3.04 billion minutes), Fallout (2.9 billion), Bridgerton (2.76 billion) and Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender (2.56 billion).

Among the top five most-watched titles last week, “The Perfect Couple” was one of them, logging over a billion minutes of viewing time. The others include Netflix’s film “Rebel Ridge” (1.11 billion), “Family Guy” (1.06 billion), “Prison Break” (1.05 billion) – which had reigned as the top choice for the past four weeks – and “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” (1.02 billion), which was on par with its season two premiere a week prior.

Further along in the initial list, it turns out that two additional series joined the top 10 during their premiere weeks as well. Hulu’s “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” (409 million minutes) marked the first unscripted program to make Hulu’s rankings. After its launch on September 5, Peacock’s “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” garnered 346 million minutes. Meanwhile, Netflix’s “Outlast,” a survival competition, re-entered the rankings with the start of its second season, accumulating 372 million minutes.

Nielsen’s streaming rankings focus solely on viewing through TV sets, excluding time spent watching on computers or mobile devices. Moreover, these ratings only quantify audience figures within the United States and do not account for viewers in other nations.
