Stree 2: Rajkummar Rao reveals hilarious origin story of Aparshakti Khurana's Soft Chitti lullaby in horror-comedy

As a dedicated movie enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of Rajkummar Rao’s acting prowess over the years, I find it incredibly fascinating to uncover the stories behind the scenes. The anecdote about the origin of Aparshakti Khurana’s lullaby in Stree 2 is a perfect example of how everyday life can inspire unique elements in films.

The Stree 2 crew is enjoying the film’s success at the box office, thanks to Amar Kaushik’s direction. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor as the main characters, this horror-comedy is a follow-up to Stree, which was released in 2018. Aparshakti Khurana, who plays Bittu in the Stree series, sang a lullaby to help his on-screen girlfriend fall asleep, resulting in a humorous scene that’s been making waves online. Recently, Rajkummar revealed the origin of the lullaby “Soft Chitti” in the horror comedy.

During a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rajkummar Rao revealed an anecdote about how director Amar Kaushik got the idea of featuring the lullaby Soft Chitti Warm Chitti. It was a recreated version of Soft Kitty Warm Kitty, which originally featured in the famous American sitcom The Big Bang Theory.

Rao mentioned that during the filming of Stree (2018), Director Amar found out that his assistant director was often singing a lullaby from The Big Bang Theory to his girlfriend. When Amar discovered this, he asked the assistant director to sing the lullaby in the car with him, which he did.

“On Street 1, a production assistant named Amar had a girlfriend whom I’m unsure about their current relationship status. One day, it was revealed that Amar, who happens to be the director as well, discovered this behavior of his girlfriend. Intriguingly, on another occasion, they were both in the car together and Amar saw him acting similarly. This incident left Amar finding it extremely captivating,” the actor from Stree 2 shared.

After Amar made his choice, Rao went on to say that once the director found the lullaby captivating, the creators opted to incorporate it in Stree 2. He elaborated on a scene involving Aparshakti as Bittu putting Chitti, portrayed by Anya Singh, to sleep while whispering Soft Chitti Warm Chitti. The actor of Stree 2 further explained that when Chitti requests for a lullaby from Bittu, he sings a reinterpretation of the original tune from The Big Bang Theory.

On the popular American sitcom The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons’ character, Sheldon, asks Leonard’s girlfriend Penny (played by Kaley Cuoco), to sing Soft Kitty, Soft Kitty, when he falls ill.
